Gold Coast to Brisbane

We are finally going to make a decission in whereabouts we are heading for and upper coomera is looking good - oh is a bricklayer so he has always just travelled to where his work takes him, however i work in IT and cant imagine there being many IT vacancies around gold coast. Brisbane obviously seems the better for IT.

So can anyone advice on travelling to Brisbane on a daily basis? How would be best from upper coomera & how long would it take. Driving or public transport?

Ellie

Upper Coomera is basically on the motorway, so maybe an hour to an hour and a half (ish?) to Brissy by car. The Gold Coast is very well developed though, and you should be able to find work in most professions, including IT, here I think. Only thing is Brisbane may be better paid.
My hubby is a brickie, and works in Upper Coomera quite a lot as loads being built there, but all over the Gold Coast, mainly northern end, too- he'll have no problem getting work!

Thanx for you information Jo,

Other than driving do you know what the public transport is like from coomera to brisbane?

Would be great to get work closer by - i think housing\pay evens out doesnt it depending on where you work & live in all countries.

Regarding your oh working mainly northern area - which northern area do you mean please. What a coincidence your oh being a bricklayer too - what do you do and where do you live?

Don't know about public transport, sorry. Three under 5's on a bus or train would drive me a bit funny I think!
By northern end of the Gold Coast, it is roughly north of Southport I think; a lot of work is in Upper Coomera, Pimpama, Jacobs Well and Ormeau, as there is more land which is being built on. My hubby does work all over though as said, but the majority of houses he builds are up that way. There is a new hospital being built next year though, which is set to create loads of work, in Southport, next to the Uni I'm starting soon. We live in Biggera Waters, soon to be Runaway Bay, which is lovely.

your're definitely better off driving from Upper Coomera, public transport is'nt great (buses are roughly once an hour) and finish early evening and you would need to drive to Coomera or helensvale train station to get to Brissie. Takes an approx one hour or more by train, depending on where you are going to in brissie and whether you need to change trains and take into consideration connection times as well. We have bought land in Upper Coomera and love it cos we have both the beach and the mountains only 15-20 minutes away, the theme parks are on our doorstep if you want them and the motorway is literally down the road, also it's thriving area and the huge new shopping centre being planned is a bonus for all us girls. Apparently it's gonna rival Pacific Fair!!!!!!!
