On the shortest day of the year the sun will rise at 7:36am and will set at 5:08pm. On the longest day it rises at 5:55am and sets at 8:42pm.

Actually we do get longer days here in melbourne than perth or sydney due to the latitude in summer, twilight till 930 in early jan but heres a link for sunrise and sunset times
Sunrise and sunset in Melbourne - Victoria - Australia
Shortest day London sunrise 8.04am sunset 3.54pm
Shortest day Melbourne sunrise 7.36am sunset 5.08pm
You can also use this site to compare uk times to various cities anywhere in the world

Hi

Whilst on this subject can someone please tell me why Australians hate daylight savings so much (WA) & even now 3 months after the clocks changed they still say its not 5 its 4 etc. I just cant understand this coming from the UK i love light nights.

Thanks

Janette
