I have had an appendicectomy, knee op, D+C, and caesarean. Just put them on the form and Doc didn't want any more info. Also have broken my wrist 4 times and put this on thinking that they may want a report as I have done the same bone 4 times but no probs there. Also had liver problems in 2006 due to allergy to antibiotics (was in high dependency for a week and hospital for 6 weeks) and they just took my word for it that it was an allergic reaction and everything was fine now. I am healthy really!! So I would definitely wait and only get them if your Dr wants them. My daughter was born 7 weeks prem and for the 1st year had lots of problems and was on lots of meds so I thought they would want further clarification as she is not 2 yet but again they didn't want any more info. I think as long as you are fit and healthy at the med you should be OK. As you can see from my time line, meds have been finalised so I wouldn't worry if I was you.

We've both had ops, nothing serious - and I had a bad back and knee. Put this in the forms and weren't asked for any other documentation.

It's much safer to be honest and fill evrything in, with the possibility that you may be asked to send letters etc. for clarification, than to not delare everything and they check your medical history and find out you didn't tell the whole truth !!!

Hi Kazmatt,

My OH was born with a cleft lip and palate and had his first operation to correct this when he was 3 months old (he is almost 30 now!) and the doctor wanted to see all the letters between the consultants at that time. Not sure why as he has had all the operations he needs and it is not a condition that is likely to reoccur and cause him to need more surgeries! OH had to request his medical records from our doctors surgery for £50 and give them to our panel doctor. To make matters words it took a good few weeks for my OH's records to come through...!

Don't think they do. Medical forms don't ask for your Doctors details.

I put all my medical history down and I am operation city!

medical details

Ello people

I have my medical tomorrow. All I wanna know is, does it consist of gettin my balls out and coughing and all the other degrading crap?

I've had 6 medicals in my life so far at 25 years old. Some for really stupid factory jobs. One medical I had in Australia for a job on the oil rigs consisted of me stripping down to my boxer shorts, picking a box up off the ground and walk around the room with it. Now I SWEAR that doctor was an old pervo and basically im just tired of jumping thru hoops for these dickheads....

Basically, im payin £260 for this medical, and im not in the mood for gettin me kit off again tomora mornin SO.

Can someone please tell me what exactly they test ya for on the day? i know theres, blood tests, urine tests..but what else?

cheers people
dave

(reading this back, it looks like I meant jumping thru hoops literally...Just an expression, I dont think the medicals have introduced the hoop tests yet)

Hi Milkyjoe,

This is probably not what you want to hear, by my OH had to drop his pants and the doc checked that everything was all in order! I'm not sure if all doctors do this though (in which case avoid the doctor in Upminster, Essex where we went!)! Try do a search on this website for the doctor where you plan on going and see if anyone has been there and what the have to say about it.

The doc then made us touch our toes, apparantely they want to check that your spine is ok so as you may have guessed, you have to do this in your underwear! Fortunately they don't mark you down if you are not very flexible and cant touch your toes

The stripping part was the worst of it, the rest was standard height, weight and bloodpressure. Not too bad, but a heck of a lot of money We spent £600 for the two of us and it was finished in about 10 mins!
Good luck and try not to stress too much about it, it will be over before you know it!

Hayley

taa mate....10 minutes really? for 2 of yaz?
so did you have to strip infront of a male doctor? if so, i could be strippin in front of a woman? I kno im makin an issue about this, im just not in the mood to be examined like some sort of farmyard animal. specialy since i havnt even had the nod from the visa people. if i do get knocked back....im goin BACK to the medical centre and givin everyone a strip show on the reception desk!
