As I type this we are having another almighty thunderstorm, my terrier is hiding under my legs a quivering wreck, half of Townsville has flooded (inc our garden). Ok, it's the worst "wet" for 30 years, and we were fully expecting this when we moved here (ok no-where near this bad)
What we cannot understand is why, when the Wet happens every year, main roads (eg the Bruce Highway) are not build like flyovers in parts where they are prone to flood so they aren't cut off, drain storms are not installed to syphon (sp?) off the water where all this new building is obviously taking away the natural drainage , and everyone gets so shocked by what is happening ? I mean, no fruit or veg deliveries for - I can't remember how long.
To me, it seems like the old British Rail "leaves on the line/wrong type of snow" argument.
Am I missing something here ?
ps torches recharged and candles lit. Again !!!!
