One for you guys already in oz. Has anybody bought or enjoyed a camping trailer? We're hoping to buy one, just trying to convince the missus and kids that they'll really enjoy it.
Been thinking along these lines for quite a while and after today finding out that all of our camping gear has been completely wrecked (shed roof major leak), not fit to go in container, not that missus would have slept in tent anyway, but it's still a shame.
Has anyone been there and bought one and enjoyed it?

Not in Oz yet but I once enjoyed a camping trailer very comfortable probably not the kind of info you are looking for though eh Eddie
I havent bought one yet but when i have some spare cash i shall purchase one. Me and my missis have just got back from a 4 month camping trip round Oz in a dome tent. It was great but i would have loved to taken a camping trailer. This seems to be the best option as so many people on our travels had them. Theres some real cool 4wd ones, i can but dream. My advice is DO IT if you have the money

Well, I was a Scout Leader for 25 years and the highlight was always the camping - and we are talking real camping here, none of your blow up beds, gas cookers, water and electric hook ups etc.
BUT there is no way on God's earth you would get me camping in Australia! At least over here, the most frightening thing you are likely to find in your tent is a frong perched on the end of your sleeping bag.
However, we do fully intend to buy a camper van when (if) we ever get over there and spend a lot of time touring round that great big country. The modern vans are really quite luxurious (well compared to a Scout tent they are) and I personally can't wait to go and do some posh camping.
If you have the spare cash - go for it, I say.

Thanks for your replies guys. Not sure if the camping trailer i have in mind could be called posh, but after hours and hours of research i found a make and model within budget, high enough off the ground, enough sockets to run a hairdryer and maybe some straighteners at the same time. So, armed with this evidence i'm still working on convincing the woman in the house. Personally i'd quite happily be a hippy while sleeping in a trailer tent. lol.
I think if the family can get enthusiastic about it there's so many sites to be seen before we get a rental and once we have sorted out a rental or bought we have it there for weekends, whenever we want.
All them sites and experiences on our doorstop. It makes sense to me.
I just do NOT do camping guys, BUT one night not long after arriving in Oz to live, I had a few too many beers with friends and family and apparently agreed to go camping. The next day it was booked by my hubbies Auntie and she was knocking on the door for the deposit!! WELL I NEARLY DIED !!!!
I did go tho, it was a good site, 4 star and boy did I love it, we went to Busselton, what a fantastic place and all the happy campers were so friendly, everyone was in the same position as us with young children. The kids could run around freely there was a bouncy pillow and park for them and we were right opposite the pool - FANTASTIC, now I want to get a trailer tent too, just need to get a job first to be able to afford one !!!
