Thanks for the info I will be glued to the screen. Will set the Sky+ to record and watch when I get home from work.
See you soon
Pauline
Hi
For those of you without Sky+ (like me), you can watch "wanted down under" on bbc.co.uk
Just click on I Player and it'll show TV shows from the last 7 days.
Gotta say, the current series is very poor as most of the people don't seem to be showing an interest in Australia, or thinking about their kids futures. Having said that there showing the families houses they can't afford. It's as though the UK Government have told the show to do this to stop people leaving this country for Oz.
I thought Wes, the bloke who worked for the family building trade company (or whatever it was) was a bit of a drip
Just my thoughts
Jim

Thanks for your tip on bbc.co.uk - We agree about Wes - a bit sad really! We hope to go to Sydney at the end of the year and are also from Halifax - well Hebden Bridge to be exact. Small world... Good luck wth your move

saw your programme this week and was interested to see you had decided on adelaide instead of brisbane, we are seriously thinking about making the move and had settled on brisbane but the research i have found has stated there is a lot of rain out there so my 2nd choice was adelaide. can you give me any pros and cons for both.
glad your kids have settled in well, unfortunately i will be bringing one with me and leaving one at home which i think is the only reason i am dragging my feet.
Location: leicestershire to perth, fingers crossed!

Brisbane for us was too humid and felt like a big sprawled out city. We are from a market town and it was too much for us to cope with. The Gold and Sunshine coasts are beautiful. We were told that come about Jan/ Feb, the humidity becomes unbearable for about 2 weeks when no-one wants to leave their house. Public transport seemed okay and shopping was good. House prices are high, comparatively, but it depends how much you have to spend anyway. Loads for kids to do -plenty of theme parks. Beaches are further away, Brisbane isn't bang on the coast but as I said Sunshine and Gold coasts are near and lovely.
Adelaide is a city but is spread out and doesn't feel like it. Much easier for us to cope with this. It does not have theme parks, instead SA has the World Largest Rocking Horse!!!!!! Beaches are everywhere, and all are lovely. They run for miles and are within 10 mins of us. Adelaide has not had it's boom period so houses are still inexpensive compared to other places in Australia. That being said, they aren't as cheap as others would have you believe and the locals think they are expensive but compared to the UK...you get me. Adelaide is known as the city of churches and there are quite a few! It's education system is also allegedly respected by Aussies who move here to send their kids to school and then move somewhere bigger once the kids leave school. For that reason, Adelaide's population is small. It is very dry here and there is no desalination plant so the water is being pumped from one of the local rivers which isn't going down well in the papers.
Not being the brightest of people, they built a freeway only wide enough for one direction at a time. So in the mornings you can travel to the city, then it changes just after lunch and you can go the other one. Apparently the plan had been to widen it if it used and popular but the govt sold all the land around the expressway and now there isn't the land to widen it!!!!!!!
There are def seasons here. We arrived in Autumn when the temps were at 24-27. Spring is the same. Winter we were down to about 5 at times but omstly hovvered about 10 and summer is absurd. We are generally about 27-33 but have had quite a few days of over 40. Fireworks celebrations were cancelled in some areas on NYE due to heat.
Adelaide doesn't the pace that some people may be looking for. But it's nice for us. We are 20 mins from the city, something I couldn't have afforded in Brisbane, in an area where there are lots of things for the girls to do. I have everything I need.
Hope it helps
Sarah! Lovely to hear from you...how is Coomera Springs? Are you still heading there?
