Now resident here for a week, (after good crew & no hitches to Bangkok to be fair) delay in Bangkok on the qantas that lost power and had an hr to land etc etc. thank goodness we were within range of an airport .
We took all the 'delayed for replacement parts' in good faith until we were 5 mins out of Syd & the pilot mentioned there had been some media interest in the 'delay' , Oz understatement for a scrum of journos at arrivals.
When I phoned to complain about communication difficulties at Bangkok & not a single offer of help from ANY Q personnel when managing 2 kids, 1 baby, car seat & all cabin bags (other kind passengers helped us) Q's answer was- "did you book extra help for travelling with kids?- Well its not showing on the booking".
(Direct implication that all was my fault - I thought I had flagged it up with at the travel agent at booking, had been told Q looked after families with young ch as a priority, and also flagged the young kids bit again during the tortuous negotiations to take our car seat on board - silly me must of slipped my mind I was travelling with kids)
When I said next time I'll wear a badge with 'please help me because we're struggling to hold 5 bags, a car seat, stroller and a baby and shepherd 2 kids on & off aircraft, transfer veh, bus, etc' the lovely q lady told me 'I don't appreciate your sarcasm',
well I didn't appreciate their shoddy workmanship/parts maintenance had put my family's lives in very real danger.
Still they PROBABLY will refund the Bangkok expenses, even without receipts -there's generous for you.
Of course genuine full praise to the pilot who managed the situation and landed us safely.
Think I got that off my chest then... deep breath.. now pass pinot...........
Let's just say it is very wet.............and noisy (we have a tin roofed Queenslander). I knew the wet season would be bad, but this is something else - our swimming pool and garden are now one, which i guess could be an advantage cos now the pool's bigger, I can actually do lengths !!!!
Hey, just don't underestimate what you have been thru - I still have memories of one or two bad flights, and that was my profession - and it takes a while to get over it.
