First Sign of Spring? shoots appearing in my garden
I saw some shoots in my garden today which begins the chain thru snowdrops, crocuses, daffs, primroses and best of all, Bluebells which remind me in a way of Jacarandah trees in NSW around November. They seem to hide away for eleven months and then suddenly splash out of nowhere in a sea of purple or is it violet? If I can only get my act together I could plan to come back out to Sydney around October. I can't bring myself to quit my job after 12 years but do I really want to stay for another six to get my pension? I think my brother wants me to move back out. Perhaps I'll hedge my bets and ask for 6 or 7 months unpaid leave so I can come back to England for the 2009 Ashes. I wish I wasn't such a ditherer. I changed my mind twice in McDonalds tonght. Perhaps I should suggest a poll 'Should I Stay or Should I Go? and pass the buck to everyone else (assuming they care!)

It's lovely when the everything starts blooming and the nights are slowly drawing out aswell. I think the unpaid leave option sounds like a good idea and you are not on your own it takes me ages to make up my mind aswell.
Thanks for the advice. It's nice to know that there are other fully paid up members of the 'Ditherers' Union'! When I first lived in Aussie, my parents were always here giving me a ltangible link with my past. Now, I'm thinking that when I go back to Sydney that's the end of trying to live in two places. Perhaps that is how it should be anyway. I always think of a ship pulling away from the quay and all the ribbons breaking one by one. I think I'm over-egging it a bit there!

ps I was in Canberra in Aug 06 and I could see that all the trees were just bursting to come out. I can remember too the trees in Hyde Park along Elizabeth St in Sydney in September. One minute they're bare, the next all the green appears as if from nowhere.
I love spring i have noticed daffs coming up in my garden , i feel down in the winter with all the dark days and nites i love it when spring comes around , i can not help with your decision sorry ... karen
My favourite time of year.....I am in Queensland and at the moment hate the humidity. I love Springtime in England and miss it very much. Goodluck with your decisions.

I hated that humidity, feels like having a hot hairdryer pressed against your face everywhere you walk.
Today, Monday am, it's sunny and feels mild. Just a couple of degrees makes all the difference. (actually it may just be the central heating fooling me that it's mild!)
As I get older I find I prefer cool (but not COLD) weather - Sydney is nicer in July and August than Jan/Feb.
