Thursday blessings to all!
Its VoD HERE
I don't get to post as often as I would like. That's a very long story (and oddly enough doesn't involve communion wine!)
What I would like to say though, having looked through a lot of the posts here is that there are a lot of peeps going through some really tough decisions. Some of them involve leaving loved ones, pets, homes. Some of them involve changing minds. Some of them involve having to make really tough choices.
I just wanted to share something that has always been helpful to me and my parishioners.
The past does not direct the future
If you stand on the top of a cliff and look down at the sea where a fast boat is travelling you can see the wake spreading out behind. If you did not know better you could assume the wake was driving the boat. But you do know better, you know the boat has an engine and a set of controls operated by a driver. The wake is just what the boat leaves behind as it moves forward.
Substitute your life history for the boat's wake and the metaphore is complete. Our history does not drive our life, it only looks like that sometimes. You are the driver, you have control of the engine, you can choose the speed and direction you take.
The water does not say " you made a mistake" it says OK you have decided to change direction. Once you adjust your course, the water washes over and there is no trace. It concentrates on your next descion .
You can follow a path based on your history or you can choose to do otherwise. Your history is what you leave behind, it does not choose what path lays ahead. Only the driver can do that.
Have a peaceful week
Love VoD
