Were heading for the Gold Coast in June and it cant come quick enough for me there is nothing worse than walking down the street in the cold, wind and rain especially when the wind is too strong for a Brolly (which has been pretty much every day for the past month hea in "Sunny" Geordie land!!!), you end up at ur destination cold, wet and very very p****d off! .........Bring on the Heat I say

Hi, seems to be quite a bit of work at the minute, two jobs in the paper today; jobs here on a wed and sat mainly though, gold coast bulletin, or carrerone.com. We're in Biggera Waters, 20 mins or so north of Surfers Paradise. Nice area, but a bit expensive and a lot of flats, so are looking at maybe Coomera, Helensvale in this area, or maybe relocating further north, nearer Brisbane. There's plenty to do here, but brickies seem better paid nearer the city. Any ideas where you fancy? As Cal said, they are building everywhere. Places like Pimpama and Ormeau are now being more heavily developed as housing is running out on the coast; should be plenty of work for foreseeable future.

Just wanted to say - we have had to buy a couple of brollies here too !!!! LOL.
And it's rain like I have never seen before - it hurts to stand out in it, everything, including the swimming pool, the fish pools (with fish getting poured out and a mad panic to save them - don't ask) and the septic tank (hmmmmmmmmm) overflows....but I love it cos it's cool !!!!
Hi ya, Can anyone help me to get the ball rolling? We would like to get visas to come out to oz but dont know where to start, we have done an on line assessment and it says we should have enough points. My husband is a bricklayer and im a hairdresser (although i wont be working straight away due to young family). do we need to get someone to do it for us or is it something we could do our selfs and save on the costs of paying a company. If we go it alone where do we start?
Do you think my husband would get work ok (is there much around)?
What sort of wage can a brickie earn?
Any help would be great.......thanks!
