Tell me all I need to know about those Geeko’s. I have only come across them once before and didn’t like them. So what’s the crack with them? Everyone tells me their harmless, but I don’t like them and they look creepy horrible things to me.

Do you mean geckos (as I flick a cockroach off my leg) ??????
have some stories to tell if u do mean geckos, including a particularly nasty incindent with a gecko and me closing a window on its tail accidentially ( it came off and I thought a snake had landed in our bathroom floor .........) Yell for hubbie, poor long suffering soul !!!
But otherwise they are quite gormless fly eaters. Might be on completely on the wrong track here...........

OOeeerrrr - I think I might be on completely the wrong line of enquiry here, sorry.
I was talking about the little lizzards with poppy eyes and that make a clucking sound. And fall off the ceiling at regular intervals - must remember to get a better surface for them up there for them.
No maybe not. Geckos are completely harmless lizards that do a lot of good by eating flies and stuff. They take a bit of getting used to - we have about 20 in our house. But they mean no harm, although they do deposits where you don't really want them.
We are quite proud of our babies - three so far, all of 2 cm long with HUGE eyes, and watching their progress. When they have an argument with each other you will hear a lot of clicking and see some tail swishing (if you cluck back that really confuses the hell out of them!!!).
They are part of the food chain, and tho they do eat a lot of flies and stuff, they do get eaten by our tree frogs. But trust me, they are totally harmles, and when you get to observe them, they are gentle and they will not come near you, promise. When they have a territorial dispute it's hilarious - all tail swishing and clucking.
Geckos can also shed their tails when threatened (ie about to be eaten), so we have quite a few stumpies living happily on our veranda. We call it our disabled refuge, and includes Peggy the treefrog who I accidentaly shut in the back door one night. (we will not dwell on that the poor giirl) Her leg is dislocated, but she s doing fine (I collect her bits from the garden......don't ask I'm veggie .....)
So no worries, they are easy and quite fun to live with - and will stay out of your way. I'm actually really fond of them now i have got used to them. You gotta admire how they walk along ceilings without falling off. I've tried it, and it didn;t work.
The little biscuit-coloured geckos that live on walls and ceilings (and occasionally fall off) are utterly harmless, cute little souls. If you grab one by its tail, it will shed its tall but that will grow back.
They eat flies and spiders, so they areally are helpful souls. We lived in Malaysia when I was a child and there were loads of them in the house. My sister and I tried everything to try to keep them as domestic pets, but the geckos considered this an Idea Too Far and wouldn't co-operate. (Plus our pet dogs & cats lay in wait looking greedy whenever they saw us trying.....)
We dont have geckos in the houses in ACT so you could come here without any problems. We did have one in the woodpile earlier this year though - cute little thing
Actually, I lied, I think he is a skink actually but there isnt that much difference.
I wasnt sure if I was allowed to put in pics so hope no one is offended.
It is easy to put in a pic, it has to be hosted somewhere on the web - I use photobucket - which then gives you the html for the image which goes something like (img)then the address(\img) but with straight brackets and the slash going in the other direction.
