Moving to the UK

Hi All

This might sound strange to all the Poms....but....I want to live and work in the UK for the next few years but I am unable to because of my age (39-Male-Single). I'm prepared to help out any ladies who want to stay in OZ and in return you will help me get to the UK. ... The only money to exchange hands will be with the department of immigration. You help me and I will help you. nice and simple.. Anyone interested, please email me.

Thanks

Hey Cal

Well I was over in the UK 2005/06 with my exgirlfriend (who was german) and I got my visa based on a defacto relationship basis.....But....temptation was too much for the both of us and we broke up..as a result I had to leave the country even though I had been working in the UK legally. The reason the Home office gave was--- " the visa that I required to remain in the UK was different to the one I entered in and I was told that I had 5 days to leave before I became and illegal immigrant". I am uneligible for HSMP because I do not have a degree....my 19yrs experience in IT wasn't enough...can you believe that......I'm lost. I don't know what else to do and I really want to get back....I even have a job ready for me if/when I get there...

Its often not understood by poms that going to the UK to live and work is just as hard if not harder than to Aus (for anyone outside the EU). When I left the UK there was almost no immigration to the UK except for spouses and such like. By comparison most aussies are amazed at how hard it is these days to get into Aus... they still tend to think its ten quid and you're in.
Sounds like yo can get in the UK now with a degree? Why would you bother?
Don't mean that really... but couldn't resist saying it

Thumbs up

Hi Fatpom

I can get in with a degree..but I don't have one..damn shame.

Why do I want to go there.

400 million people in the EU
I get paid almost double in the UK for my job
travel is very cheap
so many places to travel to
London is the travel capital/center of the world
then there's all the bars, restaurants, nightclubs and all sorts of other entertainment
and not to mention all the beautiful women.....the list goes on

eventually I would like to make the south of europe my home for a while.

So that's why I would like to go there....we'll see what transpires..

Thanks for your comments

Hello Mr Red

Welcome to Poms in Oz.

Being British and living in Britain, I had absolutely NO idea that getting into the UK is difficult until I saw your messages and then took a squint at the Home Office website a few minutes ago. Indeed, until just now I had thought that Australian Citizens do not need visas/work permits for the UK, period.

It seems goddamned ridiculous to me that we should be fussing about some highly precious "regime" or other devised by a bunch of spooks in Whitehall when the truth is that TRUCKLOADS of legit migrants from all over the newly added Baltic states of Eastern Europe are flooding in to the UK every day - completely legitimately because of the EU nonsense.

In addition, lorryloads of total illegals turn up all along the South Coast every night having come overland from places like China, Korea etc - courtesy of hundreds of gangs of people smugglers who seem to have re-opened the silk route and have that running on rails.

Apparently one can attend classes in India prior to sidling into the UK illegally via any of the international airports as well. Seemingly the Indian wannabes are taught how to grumble about the British weather. The theory - so it said in the documentary that I saw - is that somebody moaning about the weather is sure to outwit any Immi official alive in the UK. For all I know, this could well be the case.

Why on EARTH are they fussing about half a dozen people like yourself when the rest are just trundling in day after day, night after night, and nobody is doing a solitary thing about any of the stuff that we should not be be permitting?

Cheers

Gill

You need the double money to do all that you greedy bugger, mind you, you may have to pay to get rid of any genital warts that you collect along the way.

Hi Gill

Thank you for welcoming to the forum and for your words of support.

I agree with what you said......100%. I haven't even included half of the other torturous things that I had to endure before I eventaully found out that there was no way for me to stay in the UK. People from 1st world countries....and happend to be a part of the Commenwealth as well, should be able to move with relative ease through the two countries. You're right....it's because of the politicians that the rest of us have to suffer.

The biggest mistake I made in the UK when I was applying for an extention of visa was........I TOLD THE TRUTH!!!!!!!! If I had been one of those people you described in your post, then I would have still been in the UK..working, playing and travelling. The immigration system actually encourages people to lie and the people who tell the truth end like me, forced to find other avenues....As I said in my earlier post....I'M LOST!!!!

Best of Luck to all the Poms who are trying to stay in OZ......

Mr Red
