Whats Going On??????????
HI SEEMS CRAZY,
BUT I THINK ANYONE APPLYING FOR A VISA AFTER SEP 01/07 HAS BECOME A PRIORITY AND ALL APPLICATIONS BEFORE ARE CLASSED AS JUST A BACKLOG THAT ARE BEING CLEARED AT A VERY SLOW RATE, OUR PAYMENT WAS TAKEN ABOUT 18 WEEKS AGO 08/08/07, BUT WE STILL HAVE NOT BEEN ACKNOWLEDGED AND GIVEN A CASE NUMBER, I CHECK WITH THE PROCESSING CENTRE EVERY WEEK AND IN THE PAST FIVE WEEKS IT HAS ONLY MOVED A FEW DAYS FORWARD, APPARENTLY NOW THEY ARE ACKNOWLEDGING APPLICATIONS RECIEVED ON THE 01/08/07 BUT A WEEK AGO IT SAID THEY WERE ACKNOWLEDGING APPLICATIONS RECIEVED ON THE 31/07/07 THE DAY BEFORE, WHICH MEANS IT HAS ONLY MOVED ON A DAY IN A WEEK AT THIS RATE I WILL STILL HAVE ANOTHER SEVEN WEEKS TO WAIT. SORRY TO MOAN, CAN ANYONE THROW SOME LIGHT ON THIS PLEASE.

There was a thread along these lines quite recently, others are also getting fed up because people who applied after 1st Sept are getting their visas.
From what I can make out from that thread it isn't that they are more important or a priority, a new office has been set up to deal with these applications and because they only have applications from September to deal with they are going to be working through quicker. However, those who applied before Sept 1st are going to be at the bottom of a large pile - there were a lot of people who got applications in before the changes happened.
Sorry and all that - hope you hear something soon, the waiting really is a nightmare isn't it!

Hi
Felicity you are right in what you say. The new subclasses had a new department set up with new case officers and they are flying through their applications.
I am also an August applicant. We were receipted on 7 December, a 15 week wait. Could be another 12 before being acknowledged. It is a real shame that our apps are being put to the bottom of the pile, but I do not think there is anything we can do unfortunately. When our Visa was lodged, Agent advised we could have Visa by Jan/Feb. We sold our house in a couple of days and completed 30 November. We are now in rented which will take us up to end of May and Agent says that if delays do not get any worse and all is okay could have Visa by May. However, I just cannot see this happening.
In all the years that I worked in an office there is no way that this kind of situation would have been allowed to occur. The word "backlog" was never used. I cannot honestly believe that they are allowing this to happen and just shoving us to the bottom of the pile. It really beggars belief but I try not to think about or get too stressed.
It is also a shame for all the new subclass applicants because I think they feel guilty that they are being sorted so quickly, but I am really chuffed for those that are getting everything even if quicker than us as they have worked just as hard to get where they are.
Claire

I don't blame you for being annoyed, you could see this coming when 1 Sep (onwards) apps started getting CO's and requests for meds days after applying.
I personally have found that avoiding anything about these visa applications helps - it also confuses people as their timelines are so different.
I agree it is really wrong and a well organised 'organisation' would not be in this position. Unfortunately there is nothing to be done, and I guess the high influx of applications during August hasn't helped either!
It must be really tough, all I can say is I really sympathise with the situation - and chin up, although I know that doesn't make you feel any better!
Forget about it for a while - enjoy Christmas and New Year...
I really hope things start moving for you.

Hi Kazmatt,
the ASPC blank E mail system thing is unreliable as looking at their processing times you end up thinking you will never get to Aus. I went by peoples time lines on here. They are slightly different from eachother but more reliable than looking at the ASPC e mail. I would think you should have a case officer very soon. you can't rely on the ASPC information. (I learned this from experience).
Won't be long now.
Bramble.

Hi Kazmatt
Felicity is absolutely right about the reason for the imbalance in the processing. Also th o-lie visa system is very streamlined, meaning that the processing ca be done much faster than with the old system - which continues to afflict all pre 01/09/2007 applicants.
I don't trust the ASPC weekly bulletin either.
Right now timeline is probably the best source of info about progress.
Cheers
Gill
