Thanks so much guys. I've just been chatting to Mum and Dad and they are both so pleased for me (of course Dad is still hoping I'm going to tell him I'm going home) and then I come on here and read all your lovely words. I'm pleased that we both have contract work and that after Christmas once I start my post we won't be worrying about if the phone will ring telling me if I have work or not.
I'll post in my blog more details about the school for those who are interested and for anyone heading this way that does want info on schools, I have been in a fair few now and know of the ones to avoid as well so I'm quite happy for you to pm me!

It makes me feel that there's some hope for me yet. I've had no joy with supply work in the Sunshine Coast, not even one days work!! I'm going to have a little look at your blog just now - I'm really interested to see how your experiences in the classroom have been.
Getting 4 days a week is super too, chances are you'll get work in the same school to cover the other day!!
Well as the title to the thread says I have managed to get myself a job. I've been working as a supply teacher for a couple of agencies for the last 8 weeks and was starting to wonder if I would ever get a response from one of the many applications I had completed. I did a days supply in a school last week and was asked to go back the next day to cover the same class. Later during the day I was told there was a job going, someone had suggested to the head he should interview me and I was advised to leave my resume there and have a chat with the head. By the time I had finished teaching the head had left so I left my resume and went home.
Tuesday afternoon I was invited for an interview on Thursday (yesterday) so I went along ready to sell myself. This morning the head phoned and offered me a post for January. It's a catholic school but they don't have any issues with me not being a catholic, the head is looking forward to me joining his staff and I really like the school! The only downside is it is 4 day a week job but hey ho, it could change and at least I have a permanent teaching post for next year.

WHOO HOO! Go me! I'll have a small celebratory drink over the weekend but can't over do it - the antibiotics I'm on are quite strong ones! Oh dear, will have to celebrate again next week then!
All really is well in the Broughton household at the moment (hope I haven't just jinxed us!)
