Hi I have been getting photos together etc of our life in UK (one of those winter things to do). Thought it would be nice to show the kids life here in the UK as they will probably loose touch with that eventually and think that would be a shame to loose touch with where they were actually born. Favorite places, family, etc etc.
Just wondered if any of you have done things before you've gone to remind your kids of home? Or any tips on things you should do before you go! Bernie

An uptodate family photo was a must for us. We don't have kids but we felt it was important to have a group photo with each of our families, that way they have memories of a specific day with us and vice versa. My family photo was taken on a day trip to the zoo, Michael's at a bbq at his parents house.

We are making some memories of our last christmas and are going to some of our favourite places. Lake district for a couple of days after christmas a party with friends and family in the middle and Edinburgh for the new Year.
My sons class did a great card, laminated pieces of A4 with photo's of the school, class etc., and everyone had written a personal message on the a sticky note - it still makes me tearful looking at it. They'd also got his best friend (who he'd known since nursery) to give it to him.
I think it's a great idea to make memories - we each wrote down an achieveable wish that we could do before we went which made the last few months less sad.

My Mood:
It surprised me how quickly the kids (little ones especially) forget who is who once youve moved.I was showing my daughter our wedding pictures and she didnt recognise anyone ,,!!!weve only been here a year.We took them to london to see buckingham palace, tower bridge etc ,,all the things london is famous for but they wont see for a long long time.My son also got a book the school had made from him with lots of pics and messages off his friends,he reads it alot and shows all his new aussie friends. They do settle easier and quicker than us adults think but a few memories dont go amiss,,

I'm doing a scrapbook for each of the kids as a surprise which starts with pictures of their birth and moves on to the day we leave. I realise that we probably won't take the 4000 pictures sitting in the cupboard and this seemed like a good way to create a memory book for them chronicling (is that a word??) their pre-oz life. I'll bring it out at an opportune moment either before or after we go.
What lovely ideas. Seems like photos are a big thing. I find myself thinking too of odd places that I will miss and also places the kids go which they won't get to visit again often. Like the scrapbook idea, think I will give that a go! Trouble is when I get there am I going to when I look at them again?!!!!!!!

My wife and kids very recently went through loads of photos we had in the loft and lying about. They got rid of all the cr*p ones and kept sh*t loads. It was great to hear the kids (14 & 12) saying I remember that and oh yeah thats so and so...
So in a few years time we'll proberbly go through them again to see how much they remember. Brought great memories back for me and the better half.
The ones we got rid of were shreaded as she didn't want them falling into the wrong hands. Yeah I know, I didn't understand that one either.
We do have a few things which we really want to do before we go, but seem to be running out of time!
Hi
We are going to make the most of our last Xmas here. I'm going to take lots of family photos and also do a film of our village, local pubs, park etc.. so that we can look at it in Oz.I am thinking of doing a photo-book for each set of grandparents with photos of the kids in, well I am if I ever get 5 minutes to go through all the pictures
