I went to sit outside & within minutes there must have been about 20 flies diving bombing me and can I just add that was with OFF on grrrrrrr. Aeroguard doesnt work either does OFF . Its the one thing that annoys me about Australia and while i'm having a rant lol i just killed my first redback spider(in my garage YIKK) along with 3 other spiders today & moths & earywigs. Billy has his work cut out for him when he comes in from work as he is getting sent straight to Bunnings for SOMETHING I feel as if this rental is crawling.
Ok rant over LOL

My sister reckons that Mortiens works. She says she keeps a can of it in her son's cricket bag because apparently when he starts to sweat out on the pitch, this is when the flies start to attack him.
The flies are particularly bad this year, Elaine says. It could be because is is unseasonally hot in Perth for November. I've lain on a lilo in her swiming pool in Dec/Jan, shivering because it was so cold with the sea-breeze, thinking to myself, "I'm freezing but there is a huge hole in the ozone layer right above Oz, so if I put up with perishing I will definitely get a suntan!"
One time I went to Perth in Feb, which I was told is the hottest month of the year. The temp outside was about 35 degrees C then and there was a heat shimmer coming off the ground. You've had those temps in November. Something is not right, here.
Yep your probably right about global warming. I wish it would kill of the flies tho . 33 today Billys says thats in the shade & 35 tomorrow BRING IT ON just shame about the flies tho Bring on the dungbeetle. Are you coming over this year & is Elaine going to the meet next week??

Elaine says that she takes Peter to cricket on Sunday mornings and that the cricket matches take 5-6 hours. However, the cricket starts at 8am apparently. She says they will go to the meet afterwards if nothing else is happening. You can't miss my lot because there will be an ancient old dear in a wheelchair. Please give Mum a hug from me?
Cheers
Gill

The family know that I am particularly fond of you & Billy, so Mum is longing to meet you. I will tell them in the meantime that I feel responsible for depositing you amongst all the beastly flies!
I was reading somewhere that the flies are supposed to be bad because of the drought.
I was talking to someone in Cairns who said they don't get anyway like the amount of flies the rest of Australia have because they dont suffer with the drought because of the wet season at the beginning of the year.
I hope they are right I can't stand the little buggers.
Hi Janette..sorry to hear your 'plagued' with flies..pesky things eh?!..when i lived in Aus as a kid the swatting of the flies was called the Aussie Wave..my poor friend who came to stay with us when we were in Perth a few years ago was bitten alive by the mossies and came up in huge welts!..hope the mortien works.. Pingpong
I can vouch for that, no fly problem in Far North Queensland. Was down in Sydney and Canberra at the end of October and there were millions of the buggers. I think the frogs and geckos take care of them up here.
