Dream Over

Hi all
Haven't been on for a few weeks as we have been in Oz trying to do all the groundwork ready for what we hoped would be big move in Jan and its been fantastic trying to catch up with the posts and see that loads of you now have your visas - SO BIG CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU ALL - LIVE YOUR DREAM and also a huge welcome to all the newbies - PURSUE YOUR DREAM TOO and PiO is just the perfect place to find help, friendship and support.

For us though the dream looks to be over, have had loads of problems selling our house. First buyer couldnt raise finance, 2nd buyer needed to sell his house, 3rd potential buyer same.
Briefly 2nd and potential 3rd sold their houses in same week - we received the fantastic phone call as we were standing in queue to board plane to Oz! and both offered full asking price. Opted for 2nd one as he was first in line if you get my drift and lot of ground work had already been done. Everything ready to exchange on our return (this week), survey came back fine, everything agreed, completion set for 10 Dec but guess what - he pulled out yesterday deciding didnt want timber frame house as had problems in past! offered to have specialists in the check all OK but to no avail. 3rd potential buyers had said they would still like to be notified if sale fell through but they have other house now so we are completely back to square one.
Having looked at every option we now realise that our dream is pretty much over. Kids (old ones) were ready to start their respective uni/college courses in Jan but do not want to delay their further education any longer so now looking to do it here somehow which means ultimately that they won't go and I won't go without them - they are my life. I know they would have flown the nest eventually and that would have been fine (in UK or Oz) but I can't leave them so we will just have to do what we can for them here, still try and sell the house and downsize bigtime here.
Will pop in every now and then to see how you are all doing and if there is someone out there offering miracles then I am gonna do all I can to softtalk him!!!
Lyn x

Hi Lyn
I'm really gutted for you. I know you've looked at every option and are doing what is right for you, Sean, Carly and Callum. It seems so unfair but you never know whats around the corner, at the end of the day you still have a 5 yr visa so maybe you can look again in a few yrs time, if your miracle doesn't happen soon that is!

Good Luck with everything, I'll email you soon.

Luv Sam xx

Hi Lyn

NO, my love.

Speak with Billy & Janette, who post on here as billy braveheart. I fought with Billy about a year ago to prevent him from ditching the Dream.

I'm not in a fighting mood today.

But please DO PM them because they can tell you about all the hurdles they had to jump with this game and I am SURE that their story will put a far more positive perspective into your own views.

I am also SURE that you are giving up much too easily. Billy tried that - he came a cropper with me!

Hugz

Crikey Lyn, what a mare.

You have your visa, so why not validate it anyway and then it remains valid until it expires. You never know what is going to happen in the future, so why not re-title this thread Dream Postponed and see what happens...?

Hats off for being prepared to give up your dream for your children, such a big step, but never say never.

Hope it works out

Hugs
Imp

Hiya Lyn

Sorry to hear the news with the house sold then not etc.. Kids eh! Ive been saying to my husband if we dont go next year then we cant as the timing would be so wrong for my eldest!! But the house selling and a business to sell is worrying the life outta of me too.
Sometimes its just bad timing !

You can still do it, hold on in there

Good luck x

OMG Lyn, no, no, no

You quitting now?? No way.

Was only thinking of you yesterday and thinking hadn't seen you online.

Obviously if you and Sean have made up your minds, well that's it, but I remember way back in June at the Picnic how excited you were. Is it really all gone?

Respect your decision mate, but am so desperately gutted and disappointed for you.

Am sad now

Lyn I was shocked to read your post! I know things on the house front have been pretty rubbish for you (and that is probably a huge understatement) but I didn't think you'd give up on the Australian dream.

Don't give up completely hunny, just put it on the backburner for a while. Weigh up all the possibilities and who knows what's around the corner.

Please do stay in touch, we have very fond memories of our day on Dunstable Downs and the friendships that were made!

Lots of hugs

Felicity

please don't give up, you have come so far, the ride is almost over, you are almost there............................................

YES the property market is a complete pile of poo, but your house will sell, look, you have had 3 people interested so it is saleable

what about an open house or an auction? I have not looked into it properly but I know that the house sells on the day and goes through pretty quick, you may not get top dollar but if I was in your position I would consider it.

I know you said you have looked at all the options but could the kids not go ahead and start thier courses?

YOUR house WILL SELL

go kick estate agent butt get them remarketing your house

I know raffle it!

do anything BUT

Please, please, please don't give up

take care

theres not much else to say other than what the other guys have already said ,,but you cant ditch your dream now ,not after everything you have gone through to get the golden ticket..Youd regret it forever ,,can you not reduce the house a little in hope of another buyer coming along soon?? whatever you decide good luck,,but i really think youd be making a mistake not giving it a go,,
