1st Birthday in Oz
Just wondered what your first Birthdays in Oz were like. Did your other half go out the way to make it special as it was the first away from friends & family or were they just the usual crappy birthdays??

I have just had one of those crappy birthdays and I have a crappy sore throat

Had lots of nice cards, hubby made the effort and got me a sloppy card, the kids gave me nice pressies and I did go out to lunch but not much else

I did not expect much, so no real disappointment.

I am looking forward to next year because we WILL be in Oz and I know that my sis will make it special.

I had mine about 10 days after we arrived, OH cousin babysat at we went out in the afternoon for few social ones and rolled in at 10pm sloshed..........lightweights

My first birthday in Oz was 25th December 2005. Family sent me flowers, a hamper from a UK food shop- chocolate hamper I might add!!!
This year will be my last Oz birthday before my parents come out and join me next year!!! I cannot wait! I have been struggling with missing my parents!!!!!

This post makes me smile....Only cos its mine this week (1st one in Oz) and my oh arranged for us both to go out for a nice meal and got Mr & Mrs B (The Broughtons) to babysit....unfortunatley for him I thought oh he hasnt arranged anything and invited Mr & Mrs B over for a meal!! Fiz and my oh bless them tried there hardest to hide the suprise but it didnt work!!
So now we all having a meal together!! At least the thought was there!!

TYPICAL male logic. Ask somebody to babysit via inviting them over for dinnner cooked by the Missus.

My OH did a similar thing to me, once. I left work at about 5.30 pm on Friday and went shopping. Got home at 7pm. 7.05 th phone rang with Matey saying, "Where are you? I thought you were coming straight to my house from work? I was expecting you an hour ago."

Me: What? I know nothing about this idea.

Him: I left a message for you at 4pm.

Me: (Suspiciously) "With whom because nobody gave me any messages?" (I refuse to carry a mobile phone - nobody needs me that urgently but I need peace and quiet at times.)

Him: With Callminder.

Me: Callminder? We don't use that at work.

Him: No, on your number at home.

Oh the sheer intuitive brilliance of men! When he expects me to go straight from work to His Place, there is nothing quite as brainy as leaving the message on my home number, is there?
