Perth - What do you all think

I've just got a job offer for Perth and I'm going to take it (as if I had to think about it). The hardest thing was to stop a stupid big grin that was spreading across my face during the interview when they told me they wanted me.

Anyway, we've been looking on the internet at houses and if anyone could point us in the right direction interms of best areas to bring up kids (sorry young adult women), two dogs and a man that likes to have some space to get away from all these women.

Let me know what you think

Thanks

Mike

I'm not sure at the moment I could either be placed in the health or police service for a global solutions provider.

I'm currenlty spending 4hrs a day commuting (which is too much) so I would say 3 hours max.

We've got one that will be taking her GCSEs in June and the other is in year 8 (12 years old)

They will need to be near other kids within their age groups

We like to socialise but we also like taking the rather large dogs we have for walks in the country side ( or on the beach now)

I also coach football and I would still like to carry that on (if you know a team that could do with a UEFA B qualified coach.....and before you say it .......I know the glory could do with someone)

Hope that helps

Thanks

Mike

Hi Sharon and Mike - please come and coach the glory - played 11 won...... nothing.

We live in Leeming which is near the suburbs of Bull Creek, Murdoch (uni) and Kardinya, we're 15 mins from the city so that's easy to get to and 20 mins from Freo. Having been to QLD, WA does seem to have a more relaxed pace and is quieter (we're the largest state and probably the least populated) which is why we chose here.

I haven't been around alot of areas to be honest so can't advise one against the other because it also depends on what you want - having lived on a new development in the UK we were determined that we wanted to live on a street rather than a big estate.

Have a look on Australia migration - suburb profiles, accommodation, schools, real estate, jobs in Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra, Darwin and Hobart which gives you a list of suburbs, links to schools and also an average price.

My daughter is 13 in Feb and will start year 8 in Feb which is the first year of high school - she'll be happy answer any questions your 12 year old has. It will also be quite positive as she loves it here and settled very quickly and doesn't miss friends half as much as she'd anticipated (which made us give a big sigh of relief!).

Good Luck

Ali

Hmmm - I think Ali`s suggestion is pretty good - you could also try down near Rockingham (there is a TAFE, plus loads of soccer clubs around that I`m sure would be delighted to have you, plus lots of places to go with the dogs) I must admit to being biased though as I live near Rocky>I guess it will all depend on where you are working - when will you be moving over??
