I was chatting to OH last night, (not wanting to rub it in but sipping wine on the patio till 9pm last night), and we got talking about xmas and how if you arrive just before you can feel a bit billy no mates and it will make missing family and friends much more difficult.
So if your in Perth at christmas and celebrating on your own, you can come to our house on Boxing Day and we'll have a bar-b-Q. Kids welcome (we have 2 we'd like you to take with you when you leave lol),.
PM me

WOW!
What an amazing person/family you must be! That is so thoughtful of you! It won't apply to us as we have months to go. This once again highlights just how caring and considerate people are on this site!!!
Plus go to my sister's house on Christmas Day. Just DO NOT be alone and pining in Perth, whatever you do.
Cheers
Gill
Hehe, does you sister know you've just put an open invite to her house on the internet
Actually I think its really good, and next year anyone will be welcome for Christmas day at ours. The way I see it is, I have to cook dinner anyway..........the more the merrier.
Hi Ali,
That is so kind of you to think of that, we jad just moved to NSW last October and moved into our house just before Christmas, all our xmas bits were in the Container, (even though I had given loads away before we came and wished I hadn't now as they were things I had built up over the years, I left them beause I was told that they were strict on Christmas things). Anyway after all that waffling (Sorry) I did bring some but because we didn't have them for last christmas, not even a tree it was awful and it would have been lovely to have been invited to someone because it is a very sad time when you have just left all you friends and family behind and i know that I felt quite down at the time, so good for you shame we aren't there in Perth to meet you,we need people like yourself for the support, Take Care Francesx
Arriving anywhere new just prior to the festive season could be difficult I imagine so having somewhere to go or people to meet can make all the difference. Even though we arrived in New Year, bull creek bob and his wife were kind enough to invite us for a welcome barbecue and it really helped at a time when we really didn't know anyone.
Gill, may just change my xmas day plans and go to your sisters - she's only around the corner lol

Hi All
All this talk of Christmas has got me thinking !
We are having our last christmas in England and flying out to Brisbane 31st December.
We always have a real Christmas Tree do they have REAL Christmas Trees in OZ ??
We ariived 2 weeks b4 Xmas last year and it was a mad rush to get everything sorted for the kids! We were invited round to friends of our family for Xmas Day and it was lovely, tho just after Xmas our relies went away and we were on our own for New Years Eve! That was pretty sad as we didnt know anyone so we just got drunk on our patio, listening to everyone else having a party! We had been invited to next doors but as we have young children ( theirs are grown up ) we didnt go in - until just after midnite that is! I walked in in my pj's a bit worse for wear and introduced myself to everyone, stayed for about 30 mins, then my OH went in, ( rosta due to the sleeping angels, he he ), well he stayed for ages and I went to bed!! I had had enough by then! To this day those neighbours are our best mates now, even tho we have moved we still see them as much as we can!! We all still laugh about my "FANCY DRESS COSTUME" that New Years Eve!! You would never say that I am the shy and retiring type would you ( not ), he he he.
My advice to all of you arriving just b4 the festive season is, yes you will miss family, friends, familiar things, but just make the best of it as you can cos it will be your 1st Xmas in Oz and you will NEVER forger it!
luv Sian xxxx
