I had surgery in Joondalup Hospital in early December 1998............. still had an open weeping wound 7 (seven - not a misprint) years later.
Apparently I picked up a bug of some sort.............. had to go back fairly frequently as an in-patient on intravenous anti-biotics in an attempt to conquer this bug I picked up. The anti-biotics didn't work.............. so rather than face amputation of my foot......... we opted for micro-surgery which entailed a 12 hour op, bone grafts, skin grafts, and sticking a new artery in my calf.
Have some grotesque scarring to show for it............. but no complaints; I am still here whereas in reality I shouldn't be............ so every day is a bonus.
Re Joondalup hospital............... during an 8 year spell I was an in-patient 12 times and underwent 7 or 8 operations to save my mangled foot. Couldn't fault the level of care and attention .......... the nursing staff........ the catering mob........... or the cleaners.
Over the years Joondalup Hospital has copped more than its fair share of flak (nearly as much as us real estate agents!) ................... but myself, could not fault the place?
