I have noticed that Aussie men have a noticeable lack of hair on their legs. It came to my attention a few weeks back but I put it down to that maybe alot of them do cycling and shave their legs for aerodynamic reasons. Then today, as we where having smoko i was looking around and noticed 3 paddies - hairy legs, 2 poms - hairy legs and 7 Aussies with the baldest legs you ever saw, One guy must be 7 feet tall and if you saw just his legs you would think it was Elle Macpherson.
Is it me? am i working on a site full of secret transvestite brickies or has anyone else noticed this strange phenomenon.
I haven't noticed this per se, but have heard previously from somewhere that people who live in a hot climate have evolved to have less body hair than those from cold climates, it's all to do with keeping warm if living in a cold climate, the more hair you have, the less heat escapes from the body, thereby keeping you warmer. The converse is also true.
I'd go with the secret transvestite theory! These ozzie men are all rough and tough all week, but like to let it all hang out at the weekend I'm sure - check their nails for the remains of nail varnish on Monday morning!!

My husband (here in he uk) also shaves his legs!!!! However he is a cyclist and CLAIMS it makes him more areodynamic. I haven't seen any remanents of nails varnish and my undy draw always looks undisturbed. mmmm????

STOP the press, batten down the hatches and call in the guards. Australian women are hairier than ever with 52 per cent admitting to shaving their legs only once a week.
And forget bad breath or body odour. Schick Intuition Plus research has revealed that the number one fashion faux pas for Aussie gals is forgetting to shave their armpits, with the infamous feminist/hippie look more “embarrassing” than lipstick-smudged teeth.
If this wasn’t bad enough, it’s the first day of summer with females of all ages showing off their legs for at least the next three months. But a whopping 85 per cent of women admit they go to work with unshaven “pins” leading to “embarrassing excess fur issues”. Bad luck guys.
Warmer climate = smoother, sexier legs also doesn’t hold. Schick’s National Hairy Legs Index (!) found that WA women are the hairiest, followed by Tassie and Queensland. Women living in the Outback are officially the most diligent with a razor, with nearly three-quarters of those surveyed shaving once a week.
“Hairy” women say it all comes down to lack of time. “Smooth” women are obviously setting their alarm clocks two minutes earlier.
So are hairy armpits really the number one fashion faux pas?
Guys, how high do you rate a pair of smooth legs?
Girls, do you really need more time in the shower to shave, or have you got better things to worry about – like making sure that lipstick is on your lips, not your teeth. Aussie women hairier, not smoother | News.com.au News Blog
shocking!!

Hmm...Having shaven for the last ten years in the UK, for triathalon comps. have noticed that here they don't! Majority of cyclists (90%?) don't. Not sure about the schoolies, but doubt it too in WA. Bit like the news with shorter board shorts or speedos being back in fashion... Just seems to be a news thing, not the majority thing at all.
I can't comment on WA but the shorter board shorts thing rings true here. Most of the construction workers wear "stubbies" which are like the shorts the NFL players wear, with just a hint of ar5e cheek hanging out . I thought of taking some photos to post as evedence but was worried what would happen if the FBI scanned my hard drive and found a load of pics of smooth mens legs and ar5es.
Good on you for being "man" enough to come out regarding shaving your legs (even if just for sporting purposes). Do you apply moisturiser after shaving .
