I'm doing my General IELTS this Saturday in Edinburgh. Anyone else in the same boat? I've done some practice stuff on the reading test & it was really quite easy. The listening one, not so straight forward! I used a couple of websites to do free listening tests, and my scores ain't that great on them! What I think is a right answer is wrong!! Ie I had to listen to someone on a radio broadcast and answer questions. In one of the questions I typed my answer as "book an appointment" but the answer was "make and appointment" so it marked me wrong! Even though the guy on the voice recording thing said book an appointment!!! AAUUUUGGGHHHH!!! Maybe it was just because it was an online computer programme thing, but I'm panicking now!! Stupid thing!! Anyone else tried online practice tests?
I'm having to work my usual 12 hour shift on Friday, and am planning to drive 120 miles early on Saturday morning, or actually, get my OH to drive 120 miles! Think I'll sleep! I hate exams! Takes me back to school.....having no nails left because I'd pick them all off with nerves!
Would be good to hear from anyone else in the same boat, so we could give oneanother some moral support!

Hi Mags.
OH is sitting his test this Saturday at Liverpool. He's also been doing some practising and like you has said the listening one is the hardest. Anyway good luck and like I told OH you can only do your best. By the way is anyone else taking test in Liverpool this weekend.
Hi Mags, wishing you lots of luck on Saturday, hope you are not too tired. I would definately get oh to drive you as you are doing all the hard work. Hopefully when you get there the speaking part will not be as bad as the online questions. Will be keeping everything crossed for you. Do your best.

Hi Mags,
Good luck for Saturday! I'll be taking mine on 3rd nov in Guildford.
Could you point me in the direction of the online practice tests-saw the free stuff on the ielts site but it's not exactly comprehensive plus doesn't give you any indication if you're right or wrong!!
Your help much appreciated!
And good luck again!
Thanks,
Rach x

There are loads of them though. Just do a Google search for IELTS. I tend to do random ones now and again. I can't find the link to that listening one I was telling you about. Alot of these free tests don't give you all the questions & answers unfortunately. I bough a download e-book thing off Ebay for a couple of pounds. It was pretty helpful, but a couple of the questions/answers where a bit odd! I think it may have been written by someone who's English is not their 1st language!

We did ours in July and if you've done some practice, mainly so that you know what to expect, then you'll be fine. - one tip is to remember to watch the time during the writing, it's easy to spend too much time on part 1 ( the letter ) and then be rushing to finish part 2.
Even someone as thick as me and with a Sunderland accent and Alex, who's German - altough she is a foreign language secretary- , got an average of 8.5 :) so don't worry too much.
