Do you know, it just dawned on me as I was out shopping for clothes for the kids - when (and if) I get to Oz I won't have to buy different clothes for summer and winter. I was out buying thick coats as their light weight coats are not warm enough for the forthcoming months, gloves, tights, scarfs, boots, wellies, umbrellas etc etc. And then in 5 months time I will have to buy a whole new wardrobe - as they would have outgrown the clothes from last summer.
Hopefully in Brisbane it should be summer clothes with the odd jumper or light weight coat thrown in there - woo hoo!!!!!

Well we are in Melbourne............and despite what everyone says about the weather here, Charlie hasn't had a winter coat this year and only wore long trousers for school a couple of times.
The Ausies on the other hand walk round like they are off on a trip to the Arctic!!

Having been in Sydney just over a year now I've been through all the seasons. Although there were a few cold days in winter I never needed anything heavier than a fleece jacket and I haven't worn lots of heavier stuff I brought with and apparently this was the coldest winter for a good few years in NSW!!!! I found it best to layer stuff as sometimes it got warmer/colder in the same day! It's funny cos Aussies seem to wear sunglasses all the year round as the sun is bright even in winter and they often wear shorts in winter with a sweatshirt on top for warmth and this is the only place I know where you'll see women wearing Ugg boots with shorts or very mini mini skirts and sunglasses all at the same time......
Spring (Sept, OCt, Nov) - temps sitting at around 30-35 degrees at the moment
Summer (dec, jan, feb) - temps 30 degrees and up
autumn (mar. april, may) - temps still high 20s
winter - june, july, august - temps low 20s
Until you acclimatize you wont need a coat! My OH has NEVER worn long troosers and we have been here nearly three years!

I can cope with a fleece and jeans - its just the standing in a field watching under 8's football with 3 layers, hat, scarf, gloves and wellies AND still freezing your a***e off that I really am not looking forward to this year.

This has to have been the coldest winter in Perth I can remember.............. normally we go through a tonne of Jarrah firewood.............. this winter we went through 3 tonnes plus a few extra bags we picked up at the garage whilst refueling........... it's been bloody cold.
Not now though............... yippee!!!

I acclimatised almost immediately arriving in July from a cold and rainy Scotland to a cold and rainy Brisbane! I was freezing and totally regret not taking all my cardigans and jumpers and coats. I had a cardigan on every day until the beginning of October, its only now that I will go out without one. It's still cool at night here, Friday night I was watching my husband play football and I was freezing, wishing I had brought my scarf. So I suppose its just personal preference. I was always a cold person in Britain, in winter I would still have my scarf on in the house and that was with central heating so for me its just what I am. I always used to say to people that I was supposed to be born in a warmer climate than Britain and here I am, and I'm still COLD! Bring on the Summer!!!
