We all just live in shorts and t shirts so all the kids trackies etc are nul and void...they just want surf stuff now. Also bought so much paperwork that i am sure that if i had of sorted it earlier we wouldn't have needed it' Also most houses have built in wardrobes in every room but you will still need draws or dressing table etc.
My advice is START early with your sorting out which goes for paperwork, tools clothes etc so you only have what you need. It is great when all your stuff comes. good luck

Thanks for your reply,

I know it might be a bit cheeky but if you dont mind how much did it cost and how big was the container.

How long have you been there and how old are your children, mine are 7, 6, 3 all boys

I sent all my stuff in Feb after a massive clearout. I took the new double bed but left the others and I took my lovely comfy suite. But that was it for the bigger stuff. The rest of the stuff was smaller personal stuff. Unfortunately all of it is still stored due to delay in getter to Oz. I did go to validate my visa in May and had a really good look at the price of things. If you can, take newish stuff whatever its size. I had a friend who shipped her stuff in Aug and she was kind enough to take a box of things for me. I put in kitchenware - cutlery, crockery, place mats, bedding, towels etc. I got them at places like Asda, Tesco, Debhenhams and they are SO worth taking as there don't seem to be supermarket 'extras' there at all. If only I had known! Take as much as you can.

We received this with our quarantine forms:

We have been advised by our destination agent of important developments in relation to the import into Australia of refrigerators / freezers / air conditioning equipment including units in motor vehicles as part of household goods shipments.

The importation of refrigeration or air conditioning equipment that is charged with a CFC refrigerant or can only operate on such a refrigerant is totally banned from being imported.

The importation of refrigeration and air conditioning equipment that is insulated with foam manufactured with a CFC is also totally banned.

All importers will be required to declare that any pre charged refrigeration or air conditioning equipment system(s) does not contain CFC refrigerant or can only operate on such a refrigerant and that it is not insulated with foam manufactured with a CFC.

An importer who does import any of this equipment may be subject to prosecution, seizure of equipment, fines and other monetary sanctions. we trust you appreciate that it is due to circumstances that are totally our of our control.

Please note if the equipment is CFC free i.e. it contains or operates on HCFC or HFC refrigerant then the goods can be imported as normal Household Goods. Copies of the equipment handbooks or a letter from the manufacturers confirming this will be required as part of the import documentation.

We had to sign a letter of declaration that we were not taking a refrigerator or any other CFC appliance with us. As it happens I bought a nice new fridge freezer today ready for our rental at the weekend!

Hi,
We used pss and they charged 3200.00 pounds (no pound sign on our ozzy laptop!) this was for a 20ft container, and that was then delivered to our door in mountain creek by movements international in oz. I can not say how impressed we were by pss packers and everything arrived in one piece, not even a broken glass. I would strongly recommed them. On top of that price we had to pay quarantine to the govenment of $900.00. This is paid by everyone on top of the removals. Our stuff all went through quarantine with no problems...we did bring a freezer and i think that the gas thing is on older fridges.
Tracey...my kids are 11, 9 and 5 aqnd we have been here nearly 3 months and it seems like longer as we have done so much in a short space of time and we feel at home.

We brought everything with us except our fridge/freezer. All our belongings came in a 40ft container (not that we filled it but we over filled a 20ft) anyway what it cost us to bring our furniture here was far less than if we had had to buy new!! I am glad we did bring all our stuff from home as it was easier to settle with familiar belongings around us!! (Also the kids thought Christmas had come early when all there stuff arrived)!!
Hope this helps.

Where are you living, how are the kids getting on at school
I was just reading some of the younger ones post and they brought tears to my eyes, one sadi that she really didnt what to go and was very worried about it all, We havnt yet said to the kids that we are defenently going (figers crossed we will get there) we have just said that we might be moving there, i dont think that my kids have said anything to their friend yet but as soon as the TRA is back fingers crossed again, i think we will tell them then and start letting them tell there friends.

Its hard to know how to play it just in case for what ever reason we cant go.

Thanks for your reply, im loving this site so much, not much else getting done though.
