My poor 15 year old (we're Scottish) has a terrible time being understood at school so has ended up speaking a cross between Aussie and Kiwi. Its really funning because he can switch it off and on when he wants. His friend, a Kiwi, will be in the house and he'll say something to him with a Kiwi twang and then turn to me and speak broad Scots. I think its hilarious and he gets quite annoyed saying "Mum I have to speak like this because nobody understands me!"

Me? Everyone thinks I'm Irish?? I do have to slow down my speech and say some things with the tone going up at the end to be understood, yet I understand everyone else here perfectly??? Hmmm dont quite understand that one.

Kel.

I was there in March - April this year.

We stayed with friends in Grimsargh................... the same friends who thought we had won Lotto when they came to stay with us for a month in Golf Links Drive at Carramar a few years back.

To be honest it was really great to catch up again with all our old friends and a few long lost rellies............. but ............. other than for that........... oh and being able to watch a few North End games at Deepdale.............we didn't like it very much......... not much at all in fact.............it just emphasised to us just how lucky we are to be able to reside in Perth.

I was brought up on Brookfield Council Estate................ what a dump that has deteriorated into............ mind you.......... in some eyes it was always a dump; but i couldn't believe the state it was in this time round we went for a look see. Hard to believe too that our long standing former neighbours insisted we took bodyguards with us so as to fend off the 'hoodies'????? I didn't even know what a hoodie was ?

It was 19 years since we were last in Preston............... think it will be another 19 years too before we go back there again.

PS : If you happen to run into Colin Flintoff (Andrew's dad).......... tell him Bobcat says G'uday...........

Hey Bobcat

Isn't the whole of Preston turning into a dump!!! I have lived here most of my life...except for 5 yrs in Scotland.... and the past 5 yrs here it has just deteriorated beyond belief. Noboby gives a s**t or says hello when you pass them in the street and I wouldn't dare go into town centre for a night out....at least a stabbing a week!!!

We gotta get out of this place....if it's the last thing we ever do!!!

Take Care.
Kel.

wow there's lots of people from Preston on here! I lived there for 4-5 years while studying at uni and no it's not the nicest place. Coming from Crewe though I've seen worse!!
