this emigrating process has certainly made me braver, had 2 bad phobias, first one needles (so bad had to have gas & air or valium when going for blood tests) had bloodtest for meds done without having a panic.
second spiders (bloody terrified of them), ive been talking myself round trying to prepare myself for oz ones & for the first time ever picked up a large one in a cup last week, well this week went one further caught another biggie in a cup & let it crawl across my hand when i released it. i still cant beleive i did it.
so although not totally ok with them both yet im getting there, because i think to myself im moving to the other side of the world & leaving all i know, now that is scary!

You're certainly braver than me. I am absolutely hysterical when it come to spiders and have no idea how thehell I will cope in Oz but WELL DONE I think that's fabulous, although made me feel sick reading what you did

I am going to spray my house in Oz to within an inch of it's life with the stuff that kills on contact, nothing is getting inside the house, nothing do you hear me.................................

how funny, i was reading the other thread about the horrible doctor and i started to think about having the blood test. It made me come other all hot and dizzy! everytime i have had a blood test i have passed out! So NOT looking forward to another one. And dont get me on spiders! I check the dashboard now when i get in my car so dont know what i will be like when i go to oz. Though I must say i travelled east coast for 8 months and didnt see any. But wanted to say well done you for facing your fears!!
Well done you!! You should be so proud of yourself!! I can SO relate to your phobias. I used to have a megga needle phobia, to the point where I'd pass out even THINKING about them!! How sad! Believe it or not I'm now a nurse!! It's certainly a case of mind over matter.
Spiders, I'm still not totally over, but I'm getting better. Still don't like the little B**gers much, but I can catch them and put them outside now! I used to scream, run, slam the the door shut and leave them till my hubby got home! When I was on holday in Oz we had to go to Brisbane Museum to see the scarry ones, a red back, tarantual, huntsman and funnel web! Before I went I prepared myself be looking at pictures of spiders on the internet, and that took some time! I kept screaming and looking away. But I soon managed to look at them (kept thinking they're not real, they can't harm me, etc). While on holiday the main ones we say were Orbs. They are really impressive in size, kept videoing them!
Anyway, again, congtats on overcoming your fears! I'm sure like me, you're now gonna let something as stupid as a needle, or spider ruin your dreams!!

OMG! Yes, I've seen that clip on here aready! Kept telling everyone about it! They move SO fast! I was able to watch it over and over though! Must be over my phobia! Something I can't get over though is the fact that some people actually like having a huntsman in the house to catch the cockroaches, flies, etc! No way!! Give me flies and roaches anyday! Will defo be getting my Aussie house sprayed!
