Baggage Allowance!

Just thought I'd let you all know that Malaysian Airlines won't give us extra baggage allowance!! We did especially request extra weight but they said NO!! Nevermind!! Better stop buying stuff now!!

Friends of ours flew out with Emirates last Sunday and were charged £320 pound excess baggage. We tried to barter with them but wouldnt have any of it. They said they had already given them an extra 8kg extra each. x4
I think they were taking the bricks to build there house when they got there???

Singapore gave us 40kg each (childrens cases too), but no suitcase could weigh more than 32kg

We flew out with Emirates and we had 40kg each, but no suitcase was allowed to be over 35kg we phoned them and told them we were emigrating and we had to send a copy of our visa and we had no trouble.

We flew with Air New Zealand and were allowed 2 bags each at 32kg per bag. That is teh STANDARD allowance. Much better to do that than pay excess! Mind you, we still paid excess too but they charge per item and not per kilo. I think it was 150 Uk pounds per item.

Don't worry about it! We brought 40kg each and could have done with a lot less! Think of it as a valid reason to go shopping once you get here!
Have a good trip.

We flew out Emirates and were given 40k each inc children which was great!! Each bag could not weigh more than 32k. Bit of a laugh when we got this end and had no friends or family to help us push trollies....Me, OH, 3 kids aged 5, 3 and 14 months.... 7 suitcases, 1 pushchair, 1 travelcot and handluggage for each of us but hey were here and what a laugh!!

We too found that half the stuff we brought stayed in the suitcases and we didn't need it

We are flying with Cathay Pacific on Oct 20th but because we bought the flights through going places they absolutely refused to even discuss extra baggage. What gets me is that they charge virtually the same for a one way flight as a return!!!!!

Natalie, we are flying with Qantas through the Commenwealth Bank special migrant fares and they have given us 40 kilos each. See you on the otherside.
