Just to say I had a lovley day...My mother in law has been living in Australia for six years and today she had her citizenship ceremony...It really bought a tear to my eye..Just the way that the Australians welcome us with open arms is wonderful...They are so proud of their country and are so very welcoming to all new citizens..There were 77 people there today from 24 countries around the world..All wanting the same way of living...
Australia never fails to amaze me with its warmth towards other nationalities...

If it were me I would be so proud to be a citizen...sighhhhhhh only 4years to wait....But boy I thank my lucky stars everyday that we are just able to live here

I bet the 4 years will whizz past in no time now that you are living in Australia (you lucky thing).

We were lucky enough to get here before the changes.......so only have to wait 2 years!!
Aiming for an Australia day ceremony in 2009.

Lesley what a fab day to take your citizenship...I may get Charlie to get his done on that day too eventually.!!.Its also his birthday :) Aww Jay it wont be long before its your turn...and yes the time is passing so quickly, it will soon be summer :)

It is taking about 6 months to get an interview appointment, but you can get the ball rolling prior to your 2 years and book your interview for your 2 year anniversary. It then takes roughly 2 months (depends on your local council) until your ceremony. I would definately get in early if your aiming for an Australia Day ceremony, lots of other people want the same.
