ten pound poms

I have just ordered a book called the "ten pound poms"
about migration to australia in the 60's, just want to read about their experiences??

Do you think they should do the £100.00 pom today?
If they did, would their be anyone left in Britain?

Any ten pound poms on here?? Tell us all?

Your thoughts please??

My mum's unlce and family were £10 poms , were meant to go to Fremantle but they ended up arrining in Adelaide and think they got on the bus to Townsville. Most of them now live in Rockhampton and Brisbane.

I'm not a TPP but I doubt people would be leaving in droves:) The vast majority in the UK have no desire or wish to leave its only odd balls such as ourselves.

Believe me you wouldn't want to be that. Living in a Nissan hut with no facilities or comfort. Toilets, shared by hundreds, tin sheds, showers the same and at least 200 yards away. Laundry, half a dozen concret sinks and a boiler at each end of the shed. The food was just edible. You partook in the communal diningroom, at set times. If you were late you missed out. Everyone made their first purchase an electric frypan! Can't remember how much we were charged for these luxurious lodging. Please note we were in the best hostel in Sydney!!
