Hi Peeps for anyone whos interested when we went for our rental we showed them our mortgage statement just to prove that we owned our own house and had paid the mortgage every month on time also electric bill, we had to put down a months bond and two weeks rent in advance. When we arrived the first thing we did was go to the bank with our passports to prove who we were then they ordered our efpos cards (switch) which took 5days to arrive we were advised to get a P.O box which we did and all mail goes into that its much safer for bank statements as the posties here are not to fussed if it goes into your mail box or on top, therefor all the world and there kids could just take your mail. Nigel has found it much easier to apply for jobs over here and has got responses from all, this was not the case in the u.k, so when ur over here its so much better he has been offered the two he went for but has another job interview today, one of the jobs he got offered was when we went to a garage to buy cars one of the sales men asked my oh what he did then phoned a friend of his who owned their own engineering firm the people are so friendly he was offered the job but hasn't taken it as the money wasn't right, but it wasn't a bad day bought cars and offered a job all at the same time:D . hoping to move into our house this week got some furniture being delivered today then were going to contact schools anf colleges for the boys. Our feet havn't touched the ground we've been so busy but it is all coming together nicely. Got our QLD driving licence just called into the office you pay 68.50 dollars to exchange and this lasts 5yrs apparently you have to renew this again in 5yrs time but we didn't have to take any tests which was fab. Telephone and internet being installed on thursday and foxtell for the boys. All Take care

Sounds as if you're settling in. We opened our bank account from the UK so when we went into our branch our cards were waiting for us, activiated a pin number there and then and ready to use.
Your posts have been excellent, it's always good to see how people cope on their arrival. The way you tackle the first few weeks will usually determine how you will settle into your new life.
You seem to have had a positive start, good luck to you, but I'm sure you won't need it, I'm sure you will be just fine.
We too would like to say a bit thank you for continuing posts. They are fascinating. Although Brendan lived near Brisbane for 7 years I didn't so I'm an avid reader of your posts.Hope things continue to go so well for you.
