God they're horrible things arent they! Cant believe so many men wear them over here - unfortunately its drummed into them from a young age (they HAVE to wear them for swimming lessons/sqauds etc)...........so cruel!

You don't catch many men wearing budgie smugglers on the beach here....(NSW) yes the kiddies wear them for swimming lessons and squad, nippers etc BUT to actually wear them in leisure time you would be dying of fashion shame(or so my hubby tells me) Its board shorts all the way...preferably of the surf brand variety.

methinks the men wear them in the pools because they want to look like "serious" swimmers?
My husband nearly had a heart attack when we were in France on holiday a few years ago when I said he had to wear some cause they didn't like you wearing boardies in the pool(something about hygiene?) I nearly had a heart attack when I saw him in the budgie smugglers, the sun bouncing of his pearly white skin that had been hidden from years of board shorts wearing in Aus.
I've warned hubby that if I ever see him wearing em (not that he wants to!!) then it'll be the last time he sees me!! God I cant even picture it!! :eek:
