Just gotta say..... its such a shame that there has been some uncomfortable undercurrents on here lately! After finding this site a few months back, I was hooked straight away and impressed with genuine helpfullness of people on this forum, and spent far too much time on here (just ask my husband and kids). But im so suprised how quickly it can all change..... we all have a different sense of humour, and people can take the wrong way, so easily. Obviously many posts have got out hand lately and it aint nice. People on here need to lighten up a little ... well quite a bit really !!!!! Take things with a pinch of salt I say!!!
And as for the people that just reply with sarcastic, unhelpful, negative replies... you should also not bother to reply or join another site. Obviously, its good to get different points of veiw BUT surely people can put there points across without personal insults, were all grown ups!!!!!!!!
I love this site and my FNCC with everyone...... but wonder if someday I might say something one person dont like (I probably already have !!) and then get hung drawn & quartered by everyone else............... ?????????????

I think the thing about theses forums is that you sometimes have to develop a thick skin. The other problem is that although you know how you mean something to come across when you type it, others could be having a bad day and end up reading it completely differently to the way you intended. It doesn`t take much for a simple comment to be read as sarcastic or bitchy and sometimes the smiliey`s don`t actually help either. It always comes down to people having strong opinions and believing that theirs is the only opinion that`s right - as a woman for instance I know for a fact that I am always right and it`s everyone else who is wrong!!:wink:

Well said Sally :)...This forum is and hopefully will continue to be a great place for information on the migration process and indeed a base to come back to once in Australia..I am not usually an aggressive person, but will never sit back and watch anyone being slated for no other reason than to poke fun at them...Yes I have left comments but now I think I will only be leaving posts in answer to friends that know my sense of humour, or ones that really need help and I can give advice..Its a shame, but thats the way its gonna be for me..So apologies if I seem not to reply much now, I just dont want to be taken the wrong way...
Hi I want to echo what you said, its very sad that the agression we see in the street's, or by people in cars, actually reflects in some of the comments people make. They then go back and wait for a response just to have a go time and again. So sad, so unnecesary.

Yes but why should you have to change? Your opinion is just as valid as anyone else`s on here and you should be allowed to defend it. A good debate is fine, I for one believe it`s good to get two different opinions as it will make people think far more than a thread where everyone is agreeing. If people are posting just for sheer nastiness that is different, if however someone has posted something that has been taken the wrong way they should be able to explain without being completely hung up to dry, like I said you sometimes need a thick skin.
I am a member of an off road forum as well as on here,and to be brutally honest,none of the comments on here are anything like what goes on there. no offence meant to any persons on here,but i doubt very few of you could cope with the abuse dished out on that forum.
However in REAL life they are a great bunch of people.
I have come on this forum and i will abide by the rules (written and unwritten) that govern here.
The best way to soften a comment that you intend to be a humerous remark is to put the "smiley" at the end,most people will realise that the comment was in jest and should (hopefully) respond in turn. (best for the newbies to get a feel for other posters before trying to make humerous comments)
There however, is no excuse at the end of the day to come on a site like this (family friendly,etc) just to make hurtful comments about other persons.
If you want to do that i can recommend a site for you. ( mind you thats probably why they are here,cos they know they would not last five minutes on a more "agressive" site)
Jo as for you not wanting to post in case you "may get taken the wrong way" well that would be a shame.
