The different meanings of a word in the uk & oz - bit of fun
Hi All, here in oz still learning the aussie lingo,and the meaning of words that mean one thing in the uk and something different here in Oz....... can you add to my list (just a bit of light hearted fun)
UK OZ
Thongs = nickers
flip flops = thongs
beer = grog
horny = toey
trousers = pants
crisps = chips
cv = resume
sausages = snags
female = sheila
hello = g´day

Staying with that theme...... do you mean Horny - like a Rhino horny or kindda horny ??????? Just wondered ???? Dont want to get myself in trouble when I first get out there !!!!!!

Another VERY important difference to remember is that Durex in Oz is a brand of sticky tape so don't go rushing into the pharmacy when you're feeling toey and ask for some Durex othewise you could be in trouble......in more ways than one :laugh:
Just thought of another important one for the guys......over here their underpants are often referred to as budgie smugglers. Now as a good English girl (and a happily married one) I haven't done any research into whether the contents of their underpants are bird sized so I can't comment on how this name came about!!!!
