I know we will be buying and building for no more than $200,000..Mind you it does help having people in the know out in Oz....The house will be lowset but with at least 4 beds and ensuite for 2 bedrooms...and we will have a fair size piece of land too:)

I will let you know how our visit goes - can't wait very excited!!!

We were possibly hoping to buy land out there too, how are you (Jo & Paul) doing it for
such a low price? My OH is a joiner - very handy so hoping he can do a lot of the work,
will probably be needing a plasterer at some point though!!!!!!!

Pauls brother built his first house and now knows what to do and not what to do..not cutting corners but saving costs, also my mum in laws partner is related to local builder...geez that was lucky!!!
Only thing is the more i look on realestate and see the new builds the more i just want to move in one without all the fuss of building

Ahhh - so thats how you can build at a reasonable cost. My OH Scott has lots of contacts here in the UK but not in Brisbane ( his family connections are in Taz ) so your very lucky. I am really for building our own house but he's a bit more realistic ( thinks I am in my own little world sometimes I am sure ). We will see what happens when we get out there!

The new properties on the real estate sites are nice though ( I am hooked and look at them all the time) - so I can certainly see the attraction!!
So many choices to make and so little time!!! Great fun!! Any idea of any nice area's to live in that we should look at when we go for our hols in 6 wks time?
