Dont know if this is a good idea but though that we could start a "to buy" list. A couple of people have mentioned about things thats expensive in OZ to bring with you. So thought we could start a list and keep it bumped near the top of the forum and anyone can add stuff they think its worth buying in the UK. We can learn from the lovely people who've already done it?? Ok I will put gizmo's suggestion of duvet covers:-

Thats a great idea. We are leaving in October and as we have no limits (the job is paying for the travel/removals etc) we can take anything we like BUT we dont want to take things that would be better just sold over here. I have looked at bringing the kids bikes and big toys (trampoline and net and 24ft pool). Does anyone know if these sort of things are more expensive or cheaper in Aus - the bikes look like they could be dearer!! We also know we will need to buy more lounge/rumpus room furniture - should i buy in the UK and ship or buy in Aus? Many thanks, Great idea, Sarah.
Hi Sarah
Rumpus room furniture and 3 piece suites are good prices here espec if you look around and go to the surburbs of town the price places are places like swissbay & domayne
i will get my thinking cap on and advise you of what i have thought that is expensive here to buy

I fetched a lot of kids clothes to tide me over the next 12mth as i heard they are more expensive here, unfortunately the kids are growing that quick im fast running out,i have discovered they clothing is more expensive and not as much variety,,i also brought a large box of toiletries ,my fav brand of bubble bath, shampoo , hairspray, mousse, xtra razor blades ,kids smellys etc..i cant find my hair mousse in shops here and just used the last one i brought,,gutted, the 3 ive treid (in a week) are just not the same, you know how us girls can be piccy ,, dont forget about curtains and bedding ,they are very expensive and if your planning on decorating your new home over here bring a B&Q container full of paint ,,it would still be cheaper than buying it here.Anyone with kids dont forget the calpol, its panadol here and orange flavor, also dont get rid of the garden toys (plastic/little tykes) they too arent cheap either, even 2nd hand ,sure wish i hadnt given them to my neighbour but you live n learn !!

Hi we brought all our bikes and glad that we did as it is another expense we would have had to pay out over here. Plus we brought the trampoline & net and glad that we did as they have only just started selling them here with nets and they are very expensive. If you have a pool already bring it, even if you get a house with an inground pool you will be able to sell it no problem. My only word of warning to you would be to make sure they are free from mud as you could be in for a fine if your container gets opened.
If any of you ladies like No 7 makeup from boots bring plenty with you Myers (bit like debenhams)use to sell it but now they have stopped
mobile credit is expensive and behind too (for a maxi cap lie pay as you go) it only lasts a month and then you loose it all.
chocolate is quite expensive - except the cheap crap
some of the aussie ladies mags are quite expensive $7.50 which is about 3pound 50p but at the mo the oz version of ok is on special at $1.95 and has been for several weeks now
you can get english mags here in most stores chat /hello /ok /bella/pick me up/take a nreak/woman/womans own etc but they are expensive and between 2 & 6 weeks behind
also the puzzle books like arrow word etc are expensive too
(got my thinking cap on and will let you know more as it pops into the brain!!)
