Things to do before you go
I was just wondering if you have any 'must do' things to do/see dreams to fulfill etc before you migrate. OH are big music fans and we have an imaginary list of bands and legends we would like to see as I've noticed that they do not always tour down under. So far we've been lucky enough (although there are probably those out there who'd disagree ) to get tickets for The Who, don't tell hubby it's his b'day pressie). Genesis and The Police this year. I'd also love to go back to the Eden Project. We went in 2000 and I'd love to see how it's grown.
Hi Sue,
I made a mental list when we decided to go for the move and my main ones are to visit a few places in europe. I think i've taken it for granted that the places I want to see aren't going anywhere, and are cheap and easy to get to. I need to narrow down the most important and book in a few long weekends!!!!!
I'll only regret not seeing them before I leave, so i has to be done!
regards
hays
I have always wanted to go to Italy so last autumn we went to Florence for a few days, and I'm really glad we did. Would be nice to go to France too, but I've been there so many times that I know I won't forget it!
The only thing I'm slightly worried about is that I think there might be some friends/family that I might not see before we leave. I'm quite down-to-earth about it, so I won't be in floods of tears and I know there is nothing to be done about it, but it might be something I regret in years to come. (Elderly relatives especially). But I guess there is no perfect time, and we have to take the opportunities we are given. Carpe diem et all that!
What a great thread! I really want to stay in my favourite hotel one last time before we go. It's called the Headlands Hotel and is in Torquay. It was where Roald Dahl's the witches was filmed and has the best views I have ever enjoyed from a hotel room. I love it there and will miss not being able to have a short break there during storm watching season!
We did a wish list of 4 things (one for each of us) before we came, Mine was going to Edinburgh which we did for a long weekend, the kids loved the sightseeing too and we have tons of photo's to remember it by. If you like historical things, that's the thing you'll miss here

I never realised how many things I have always wanted to do but never found the time. The main one is to go and watch Arsenal play! I would also love to go to Paris (can't believe I have never been) I also want to go to the lake district and to Wales.
How many of these things actually happen remains to be seen!
I had always wanted to go to Ireland. We did that last summer as a big family trip - I'm glad I did it.
On a very sad front, I've always wanted to see George Michael in concert - I watched him at the Birmingham NEC in December and thought I'd died and gone to heaven.
Both us wanted to have one last narrowboating holiday before we left the UK as we love boating, Michael has a big family history on the boats, but this would have eaten into our savings too much. Got round the problem though! I organised a residential visit for some of the kids I teach - we're having a week on the canal starting Friday 16th March and then another week in June - free hols for me and Michael.
Can't think of anything else we wanted to do before go! Got lots we want to do in oz though. Our ultimate aim was to be there before my 30th so we could have a holiday to celebrate my birthday at the barrier reef - this one looks like a good possibility now

We were rather extravagant and went on a grand tour of Egypt! We are well travelled anyway but I'm sooooo glad we did this amazing trip which took in Luxor, the Nile up and down to the Sudnese border, Cairo, the Red Sea and Mount Sinai...
One of the things that I can't get my head round since we've been here are the numbers of people (Aussies) who have never left the state they were born in. I have met people in Melbourne who have not been into the city for 27 years!!!
If you haven't seen at least some of Europe, seize the moment... It's a long, long way back!!!
Hi...
Made me think this one MO2...
I have loads i'd like to do before we go, but doubt if we will get round to any of it!!! Hubby works long hours, most weekends and seem to never have the time, money or the weather to do it!! One of the reasons to moving to Oz really.
HOWEVER, I have got a massive list of things to do when we get to OZ..... and have vowed to at least get half way down it, life's far too short, aint it???????? :)

We didnt do any of that other than maxed out on seeing people - family friends (forgotten - meant to or been meaning too) as we felt "you really don't know what tommorrow brings" and places will always be there and a reason to return and keep travelling !
