I am very upset as I recieved a call from our doctor that carried out out medicals today. He total me that the chest x-ray has revealed a tumor and I need a CT scan asap.
Does anyone know if this has happened to anyone else. What it the likely outcome?
We have waited so long to get to this stage I am worried about how long it will delay us getting to OZ.

Hiya Jenny
I can not quote for your condition, just to say I am thinking of you and hope eveything turns out ok in the end. My chest xray told me that I had a increased cardiothoratic ratio, which means my heart is enlarged which really did upset me, to think I have got this far only to be turned down on the medicals on something I did not even know I had...., anyway we did get the visa 4 weeks ago now, so fingers crossed everything will be ok with you.
Keep us informed and good luck.

Thanks, i know i should be worried about my health but all i care about is getting to Oz, it's my dream. They have to find out if it's beign or not? The Nuffield are trying to get me an urgent CT and i have to wait for my mobile to ring with an appointment.
Early diagnosis of most health problems is usually the best thing for a successful cure. So this may well be a blessing in disguise. Look after yourself, put your health before all other considerations, and hopefully everything else you are hoping for will follow in due course.
I am so sorry to hear this news and I can imagine how alarmed you must be. However, it may not be anything serious - you don't know at this stage, so try not to leap to conclusions. Trite words, I know, but you know what I mean.
Secondly, honey, if it is something serious then you need this visa like you need a hole in the head. Thousands of miles away from the support of family and friends - in a country you have never lived in before - is no goddamned place to be ill. It would be too much for you to cope with on top of the move.
Thirdly, don't make assumptions about which way the visa meds will go. There was a milestone case in the Court in November 2005 called Robinson. It established once and for all that the MOC has to be extremely precise from now on, and must accept the recommendations of the person's own doctors about what the future is likely to hold for the visa applicant since the MoC is not in a position to examine the applicant. So they are now very wary of medical refusals because they know that people will shout "Robinson" and haul the Minister in to Court if the MOC puts a foot wrong in judging which way to jump. It has caused a situation in which where there is doubt, the full benefit of that doubt must now be given to the applicant, not to the Minister. It is an absolute triumph of justice, the Robinson case, and it is very, very powerful law.
Hang in there honey and just try to take this one day at a time.
Love and hugs
Gill xx
Ps: For anyone who might want to read it, Robinson is here:
I'm so sorry to hear of your health problem. Are they absolutely sure that it's a tumour? My hubby had a routine chest x-ray (no health problems) a few years back and it revealed a shadow on his lung. We were beside ourselves with worry. He had a CT scan and it turned out he had sarcoidosis which is a thickening of the connective tissue between the lungs. He didn't have any ill effects and it went away on its own after a few years.
Jenny, what a shock, but at least whatever need to be done will be done and very promptly. I did read on one site that someone had been diagnosed with a major illness - had treatment got the all clear and got their visa. I know you'll be worried sick, and I won't say don't worry, but there'll be a lot of people thinking of you and wishing you well. Fingers crossed
Love Ali

Sorry that you're having to deal with this unexpected news.
As the others have said, try to focus on the positive: if this is something to be concerned about, then early diagnosis is vital. You need the follow-up CT to know where you go now, but your health is the most important thing.
We are thinking of you. Please let us know how you get on. Good luck!
Rachel
