Medicals Tomorrow and Getting Excited!!

Hi everyone, new to the site as we were originally looking at Perth (done the Poms in Perth thing) but we have finally decided on Queensland as my hubby is a fitter (deisel) and we think better work over that side? Any views anyone......he is looking at the mines as he does heavy machinery.

I am a mortgage adviser (for my sins) but in the dream world I hope not to have to work initially in Oz as we have a 13 month old girl, which breaks my heart to leave every morning here.

We will be bringing out the other loves of our lives - are two well spoilt West Highland Terriers, and are going to start thinking - in earnest about sorting out who to use to transport them soon. Any recommendations?

Tomorrow is medicals day. Feels weird because my employers don't know yet and have had to make up some ruse for the day off. Hopefully we will get our Visa's in about 8 - 10 weeks... The light at the end of the tunnel is getting brighter.

My hubby is a mad Plymouth Argyle fan, motorbike lover (has a duke but it probably going to sell it before we leave) any others out there?

Thisis a bit like Forum Tennis!!!!!!!! Anyway - are you getting meds done at the Stannery and Xrays at Nuffield???

Transport = Bristol - Overhill Kennels. Rachael Preddy is the lady sorting it for us. I can give you their number if you like??

Where in Brisse are you going?? Got family in Manly West - very nice there!

we posted our application for 47es visa today - but things are VERY different at our end - as I've learnt from these forums. We got the job - they applied to Immigration for Labour Agreement - we got Labour Agreement - on it was details of Case Officer and requests for medicals and Police Checks - all filled in and sent - apparently we get the Visa (If all is OK) within the next 10 weeks.

We are looking to go in September too - but they pay for everything. We've had to pay for PC's and meds up front - and the application fee - but we keep receipts and get it back when we get there. It all sounds great etc, but you've still got to fork out for it in the first place!

Anyway, the PLAN is to go to Australia House on the 3rd September - they then put us in Hotel that night and a driver takes us to the airport the following evening. We then fly business class to Kuala Lumpar - they've organised a 2 day stop over - then off to Sydney to be met by their representative to go to Canberra.

It all seems so way off at the momentthough as I'm bogged down with ANOTHER pile of paperwork for housing and travel stuff. I have to do an inventory of possessions that they are shipping for us!!!!!!!!!!! I think I'll be ditching loads of stuff - saves writing it all down!

Best of luck with it all though - it seems that you're pretty much sorted now - just waiting for Visas??

Hi Angie

You lucky thing sending off your visa application yesterday, my fingers are crossed that you get a quick result. We are now waiting for our labour agreement, hoping it arrives before they are due over here 19 March. I like reading your posts because you seem to know so much about what happens next so keep the information coming. Take care

Nicky

Medicals Done

That all the stuff done. Just waiting on police checks and then we could have our visas in 4 - 12 weeks...... I tell you the Ozzys have got it right with regards to who they let in - I bet you don't have to go through this to get in to England!

Hi Nicky!

We got the Labour Agreement at the beginning of Feb - have you downloaded the 47es application yet?? If you get all the forms filled in andthe supporting docs, you can get a good head start for when the LA comes!

We have learnt alot as time as gone on - mainly because I've harrassed as many immigration and ADF people as possible!!! It's comical to think that you're 'bothering' them all the time when you don't hear anything - we're picking up all of our lives to go and work for them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyway, things we've learnt from speaking to a Case Officer in Canberra....

If not got discharge papers, then get a letter of discharge from Command - this only needs to state your intension regarding dates to leave current Defence Job. You cannot be employed by 2 lots at the same time!

Download form 1221 from the immigration site - we had it sent to us by Canberra AFTER the LA came - it's repetition of some of the Visa Forms, but still needs to be sorted.

Get in touch with Eva at Australia House as soon as you get your LA - she is the desk officer for getting you there - and your belongings! Loads more forms, but these are positive as they will have tangible consequences - Expenses claim details to start with!!!!! All of the Housing and Travel arrangments!

Once you register for the Housing side - you will get a log on for their web site and view prospective houses!

Anyway, keep me posted and let me know how it all goes!

Angie

We have two children, girl (Kiara) age 4 and little boy (Callum) age 18 months.
