Hi Gill!

If have no clue!!! Sorry - we're going down a different route than most of the people here. The say (whoever 'they' are) that you should keep 6 months living costs for when you get there - ie. rent, food, schools etc. I don't know how much that is in monetary terms though.

I was told by a financila bod in Australia that you should look at the $$$ for a propective salary, then multiply it by 75% - then you'll have the living standrad that you get here in £££. The wages are lower than UK - but it's all relative.

It's really a case of suck it and see - I know that alot of people are paying massive amounts of money to get across - so far we have only paid for Meds and PC's and Import Order for Dog, Kennel fees Deposit- and the Visa Application. That has come to £1,700.00 for us - this includes postage as well. We have not used an Agent because there's been no reason to. We are not paying for flights or removals etc either, I know when we went out as a family in August 04 we paid £3,700 for 5 of us to go across - but that was return flights.

It's really a 'how long is a piece of string'? question and depends alot on what you want for a living standard.

I'm sorry I couldn't help any more - there are alot of Poms already in Oz on here - they would probably be better to ask.

Good luck!

Angie

Thanks for the info angie

You've told us about another form we didn't know about. Just printed off form 1221 and will fill it in ready to go with 47es, these are all ready filled in and just waiting to go. Did you book your meds before you got your labour agreement? Hubby is now out of navy finished last friday so we are now irregular occupants of the house and need to move over there asap. Wish we had started the process sooner. Trying to get hold of redlo (i think) in melbourne to get some info on schools but she's never there when we phone.

Keep the info coming. Take care

Nicky

It takes about half an hour. Urine sample on arrival. Hearing, sight and past history with the nurse. Then medical with the doctor. Touch you toes, looks in your ear, eyes and ask some questions (think chekcing your mental status!), blood test and then signing some forms. X-rays at the nuffield - 10 minutes in and out.

Hiya

We booked meds after we got the Labour Agreement -doesn't take long to book - we got appointment within a few days of enquiring! It's only Tuesday and Thursday at the Stannery for Dr Allenby - all good and sorted now.

Have you managed to get hold of REDLO yet??? I have a list of contacts and emails from them for the different States and Territories - let me know if you need it?

We have booked time in a pub with CHris and Penny when they come over - they'll be in Plymouth at the end of this month. I do know from a few other people that they are also bringing paperwork with them - Job Offers/Conditions of Service Letters etc. Are they bringing your LA with them???

I'm going to spend the next couple of months ditching and selling things - I thought it would be best to try to make a start - before you know it, it'll be July/August and I will have done nothing!!!!!!!!!!

Anyway, take care and let me know how things are going??

Angie

Hi Angie

Know what you mean about sorting out. We actually got up in the loft last weekend and what a load of stuff we got rid of. As you say got to start sometime so thought we'd get on with it as we need to go as soon as possible.

If you could let me have a list of REDLO that you have I would be grateful. We have spoken to a Lt Carl Jordan who meets and greets in Melboune, on the phone for over an hour the other night!!! We don't even know when Penny is in our area as she hasn't said anything.

Will let you know how things go and keep us up to date with what's going on with you all. Take care

Nicky
