Dreaming

Hello all

I know not everyone is in this position. But has anyone been so frustated, waiting for the visa to come through ever fancied selling up and going traverling just to pass the time away waiting for a yai of nai? (Is it possible can we still deal with the application while bumming it on Chaweng beach sipping Mekong & coke out of an ice bucket.) :x
It's crossed my mind but what if we get turned down? what a massive come down to come back to mother England and start again knowing that the dream is over.
But if we did get the visa: We maybe would have had a great few months or so in paradise just before we started the rest of our lifes In Aus.

It's just a dream but you never know.

John

I wouldn't recommend it, however attractive Chaweng might be. (Where is it, anyway?) The reason is because you need to ensure thet DIMA can contact you easily at any time. Also you need to get meds done sooner or later, plus the police.

However, if you were thinking of spending these holiday months in Australia, house-hunting, getting a job lined up etc, that would be different. You'd need to check with DIMA but I am pretty sure your meds could be done in Australia, by Health Services Australia who do them for everyone making onshore applications for visas.

If you were to choose to holiday in Australia, the whole family would have to leave Oz before the visa is granted, but all you'd need do would be to go to Singapore/Auckland/Bali/Fiji or wherever for a couple of days.....

Cheers

Gill

Hi John - that is exactly what me and my husband are planning on doing. We had our acknowledgement for our 136 skilled independent on 4 April. Had meds last month and Police checks sent to oz also. Our house is up for sale and we are hoping and praying it sells soon.

We want to be off end of October early Nov with or without visa - going to spend maximum stop over in Singapore, go to Hong Kong, Bangkok and a few other places before getting back on plane at Singapore and heading for Perth.

If we have to settle in Brisbane and then trip off to Auckland for the DIMIA to actually give us our visa its just another place in the world we will have had the opportunity to see. It will give us chance to get a place to rent and maybe jobs and research the area we want to buy our new home.

That’s our plans hopefully. Just miserable here at the moment, bored of waiting plus could not face another winter!!

If house sale doesn’t progress quickly will do the same but beginning of Jan.

Hi Gill

Thanks for reply. Chaweng beach is on Koh Samui Thailand.
Taken on board what you say. Our medicals are in (not sure if they have been processed yet) And we should recieve our police checks by the 20th then I send them to my agent and they'll send to Sydney.
Is it likely that DIMA will contact us? or is it a definate that they will. I got the impression that once the police checks and medicals are in it is just a matter of waiting for the answer.
My friend was interveiwed over the phone but he was going for a defacto visa with his Aussie girlfriend. He recons this will not happen with me as I'm going for a 136 Indipendant skilled visa.

Hope your mother got home ok

thanks

John

Hi Esther

You said you got your acknowledgement for your 136 skilled independent visa.
Does that mean that you have got the visa but have to wait for Visa to Physically pick it up up?

We have had our file number issued but no confirmation that we have a visa or not.

Sounds good what you are doing and I hope you have the greatest time.

Good luck and thankyou for reply.

John

Hiya John..

This post comes from the Middle East! Just logged on to see where everyone's at (how sad am I?) I do, however wish I was on Chaweng beach, having spent (or misspent??) many a lovely hour there! Sadly though (don't know how long since you were there last) but there's a bloody great Tesco sprouted up slap bang in the middle of Koh Samui!!!

Any who, as soon as our house sale goes through (hopefully sooner rather than later) I will be winging my way to New York, where I pick up a cargo freighter through the Panama Canal and a million other places before reaching Pusan where I will visit my in-laws before flying out to Melbourne to stat our new life.. maybe this is something that appeals to you???

John

John you can check if your medicals have been processed by emailing LCU@immi.gove.au with your name, dob, passport number of all applicants.

Hi John

Thanks for your response to me. Obviously you have got well-organised with this game, plus you have an agent who will receive anything from DIMA on your behalf anyway, so I would say Go, With My Blessing!

Cheers

Gill
