State sponsorship

After attending the London expo, Paul has been sent a letter from Queensland government saying he is eligible for state sponsorship. They have sent him an application form and added his name to lists of potential employers WOW!!!...does anyone know how long this will take once we submit it back to them... We were going to go for general skilled migration but as Queensland is where we want to settle it may be quicker for us this way...We know there are pro's and cons of differnet visa but we just wanna go as soon as poss..any help would be much appreciated :)

We have been granted our Permanent Residency under sponsorship by Victoria. Have you had your TRA application successfully passed, I know once my other half got his confirmed we sent of application with TRA number and got confirmation of sponsorship in about 3 weeks, then you are able to send of the big one to DIMIA. Good luck

TRA app is in as we speak but know it could be another 10 weeks yet...Just was wondering how long it takes once the DIMIA have it..Thanku Bet..all info is good for us...this is why this site is such a good place..It's so good to know we are not alone :)

Just was thinking DIMIA would be quicker processing state sponsorship than general skilled migration..

We just have to do some research at the governments request but as Pauls family is there they are already helping us out with schools, rental, etc...fingers crossed it all goes well huh...

Permanent Residency in Victoria

Hi Bet

We too have also received our visa to head for Victoria, my husband is a carpenter, we have two kids 13 and 9yrs and are looking to go June 06.
Very scary, as we have no jobs, place to stay etc but I guess this goes for most people. What is your situation and when do you intend to leave uk, have you any idea of where you might settle!

Hi ya, we leave the UK on the 19th February, heading for a bit of a break in Thailand for a month, and then arrive in Melbourne 21 March, I know scary. We are like you not got anything arrange in the form of accommodation, we are probably going to get 4-6 weeks in long term Guest house, as it is only me and mark we aren't that fussed, found one on the net which specialises in long term workign travellers, okay shared kitchen and bathroom but hey I have done it before also want to get have some time to find my feet, been to Melbourne before but that was only when traveling in auz previouslay so don't really know the ares, don't want to rent somewhere straight away without being certain of the area and it will give us one less thing to worry about on our arrival. Luckily we didn't get any restrictions on our visa so we plan to settle on the outskits of Melbourne, with Mark being a brickie thats where the work will be but, personally he won't care as long as there are numerous golf courses in easy reach..... Good luck for the future and hope you get THE CALL soon.......

Bet
