Scaffolding on or offshore down under
Hello to you all down under. I'm just wondering if any of you are, or know any scaffolders? I am thinking about moving to oz but want to find out what the prospects for me would be like. I am a scaffolder of 10 yrs experience in total the last 4 yr has been spent working on the rigs in the north sea uk. I am a basic part 2 and am booked on my advanced course in the next few months. Are uk CITB scaffold cards recognised there if not what cards would i need. Any info would be much appreciated. Thanks Philip.

Hi Philip
My husband is a scaffolder and we have been in Brisbane for 2 years now, does have its ups and downs work wise but he has worked for the same company throughout and they are really busy again and hiring heaps of staff. I know that in WA there are loads of scaffolding jobs, with very good pay too. With your experience I really dont think you would struggle to get work out here, not sure if the UK scaffold cards are recognized, my hubby had to go and re-do all of his tickets when we got here, but his basic had expired anyway.
I will ask him tonight and confirm if they will be accepted.
Hope this helps you some.
Mandy
