Trouble finding work in Brisbane

My family and I are relocating to Brisbane in September 2010. I have sent my CV (sorry, resume) to a number of organisations but no one is replying or showing any interest.

Is this fairly typical?
Will companies be more responsive once I am actually out there?

I am an experienced transport manager in the bus and coach industry, and I am hoping to find a similar position. Can anyone give me some encouragement?

Hi RD, My husband sent his CV into places before we arrived (IT) he got no response, he then got the first job he went for when we arrived. Don't know if this helps good luck.

You'll be taken far more seriously when you walk through the door; we get so many on-spec CVs it's not funny. We want to know that you're not a psycho and that you'll gel with the team (had a couple of very bad experiences before), we can't tell that until we meet you.
