A move to Oz???
Hi
I've just registered on this site and have already found lots of helpful hints.
We are seriously considering a move to Geelong. I am a sonographer and my husband is a carpenter and weve got to young boys aged 8 and 5. They both like the outdoor life and the 8 year old loves sport. The weather is against us here!!!
Just wondering what the schools are like in this area? house prices? job oportunities?
weather?
Any information much appreciated!

Look at web sites like "realestate.com.au" (there are others) for property renting and sales. For schools Im sure a Google search for public and private schools in that area would give you lots of information.

Victoria (outside of Melbourne) has some of the most affordable houses in Australia. And some fantastic schools (my friend tells me). Plus they don't have the HSC system of education that they have in NSW - absolute stress and massive competition for 16-18 year olds. Although your boys are only young, exams come around quicker than you think, and I am told the Victorian system is much less stressful and more focused on "education" rather than grooming children from 11 years old to get in the top 1% of the state they way the NSW HSC system seems to be.
