UK Mobile Phone
Does anybody know if a UK mobile will work in Australia. i am pretty sure i will need to unlock it, but is there anything else to know? I'm wanting to buy a new phone to use as a pre-paid in australia and i want to sort it before i get there. Also can i buy the SIM card from the UK ie. off ebay or ebay.com.au or something and get the phone up and running before I arrive?
I want to be able to give my mobile number to employers ~ hope this makes sense!

before you leave the uk make sure your fone is unlocked.......................................... ....,.well as soon as you got your bags . walk out and you will see prob avodafone stand.its like PAYG. for $29 yo got $150 credit. .... . just bang your old sim card in .. but make sure you tell your old provider to cancel your old sim card ... or they will still charge you for it

mobile help
I'm going to get a new phone so the old provider thing is not a problem, are there any networks that you know of to avoid due to unlocking issues - can you get those sim cards before getting to australia as i will need an australian mobile number for new employer:idea:

it would better you go to a new network provider since they would offer better deals for you i think. dont quote me on this tho

Can you not wait until you get here to get an Aus number? It is much easier than trying to get it all set up before you leave. You can buy payg phones quite cheaply here pretty much as soon as you get off the plane. If you want a swanky new iphone or something it would be better to do it that way. But do get your current phone unlocked before you leave anyway - usually a "little man in the market" will do it for you cheaply.
