      Not Happy Bunny

I have been out in Melbourne for 9 weeks today and before i start i wanna say i am plaesed im ere..

But i have come out on a 457 and hubby loves his job and they are over the moon with him. And he has new mates

For me tho i cant get a job for love or money not even in a supermarket. I went for a interview on Thursday for a Traineeship no age limit great and it would bring in the bucks and i get a new career. Nope im not allowed on the visa that i have. Not happy

Told my older son who is 17as he wanted to do a traineeship also in a bakers cant either so he said he wants to come home.. He is finding it really hard ere as he also suffers with Atypical Autism and ontop of that i found out that there is an agency who help with Autism with jobs etc they said cant help us as we are on the 457 visa so im stuck i need help and soon if not i will be back in the Uk

So sorry to hear that Bella, is there no way your partner's employer can sponsor you for permanent residency immediately???

It may be worth having a chat with Gill or Alan on here to see what options you have. You really need that PR Visa.
Hang in there though, these things are sent to try us and remember it is only a temp thing you hopefully will get PR one day then you can do what you want... well within reason:)

If you are his 457 visa then you can work wherever you want to there are no restrictions that I'm aware of for spouses. YOu can even set up your own business and do charity work. Maybe the employers you've spoken too just don't understand the visa system, you will come across this alot I'm afraid. You are a resident and the only restrictions I've seen is that for some govt agencies you won't be allowed to work for them on a permanent basis.

OH is on a 457 and I've had a job from the second week we got here.

Approach the employers again and explain the situation or print the info off immigration website so they are reassured they are ok to employ you.

All you need is a Tax File Number so you just ring up the Tax Office and they'll tell you what to do.

Get that permanent visa as soon as you can as it benefits both his employer and yourselves.

sorry to here your problems!!! but to those applying or thinking of it is important to do your research - and understand the restrictions of visa options how this affects moving jobs haveing to inform immigration of everything re job changes etc. so many people get caught out by this! a friend nearly got kicked out of the country for not meeting the these clauses and had to leave for 28 days prior to returning.

hope you sort your problems out. speak to immigration this is the best bet as this is the only accurate advice and you dont need misinformation to complicate your situation further. so many people give inaccurate advice and are out of date with all the changes even immigration agents.
