'Australians do not travel that much as a rule'
Earlswood, are you sure it was Australia you went to?!
All of my Aussie friends have travelled extensively, & I haven't yet been to any country where I haven't met at least one Australian!
I've no more to say on this subject, as it's already all been said; and as far as I'm concerned as long as I have sufficient food to maintain my health I'm better off than many people in this world.
Peace & love to all

Australians do travel but the percentage of the population that have ever left Australia to go overseas is quite small compared to people from the the UK... the reason being that you can fly to europe for a few pounds whereas to fly anywhere from Oz is very expensive.

The countries I'm talking about (where I met Aussies) include places closer to Aus, like Samoa & Fiji, as well as places further away (even where there wasn't any surf!). Heck, London is full of Aussies, as were most NHS physio departments until a couple of years ago!! I even met a guy from WA last week in Tesco - right on the East coast (you don't come this far away from the rest of England unless you really mean to)!
But as I've said before, Earlswood, you're experience is uniquely yours and we can always rely on you to present your own perceptions plainly and concisely. I applaud you for that.
(Now, I'm off to attempt to improve my cardiovascular fitness - something that will be easier when my local beach is warmer than 1degC!)

If you are living in the Brisbane area and you want a good Indian, try the Spice Avenue Balti Restaurant 190 Birkdale Road, Birkdale. The owner has an outlet in Wolverhampton, and has brought over the whole menu, so not just the bog standard items you get in most Indian's here. They serve a great curry!!
