I think it is best you Google it and you will get a lot better info than what I can give. If you live in bushland then more prone to get them.
It is good to know what to look for and how to remove and treat. Also check your dogs and cats if they show signs.

Yep! Ticks can be a problem depending on where you wander. But then again you'll 'catch' them in the UK, the Lakes District is good for them but anywhere really. The UK ticks can spread Lymes desease the Aussie one spread another one which can cause paralysis (but can't remember it name?)
