Vetassess paperwork
Help!!!!!!! I'm quite new to this site, and not sure if i'm sending this to the right place! We've just received all of the paperwork through from our agent for the paperwork side of the vetassessment. My oh is a bricklayer with over 20 years experience - he has his NVQ2, but other than that, it is work experience. I'm unsure as to how far back and how much information is required to be completed - any advice or help would be greatly received from anyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi there,
My o/h is a plumber and he has just completed the paper based vetassess, He was told by our agent to start right back at the begining with his training and his work experience , And explain in great detail every thing he learnt and when! Including all tools he used and what jobs they were used for, along with this what pay etc,
Hope this helps a little Dawn

Thanks for this - looks like it's going to take a while, not sure if my oh will be able to remember that far back - he's going to have to get his thinking cap on!
Have you had a result back yet?

Hi There,
When I done the paperwork section for the bricklaying i went back 5 years with references, accounts and photographic evidence etc, my advice to you would be to put as much information in as possible as i
really think it makes the whole process quicker. I also only have a nvq 2 but as your OH has been in the trade for 20 years he will breeze through the practical which i done last week. If you need any tips or help with practical or paper info just let me know.

Hi
We're in the same position as you, just doing the paperwork for my hubbys bricklaying vetassess, we are struggling to find someone to give him a reference from where he was an apprentace, as it was 18 years ago, and theyve all moved on by now!!
Our agent has said to just get as much paperwork together as poss, luckily o/h is a bit of a hoarder, so we have managed to find college reports, offer letters etc, and so we are sending EVERYTHING we can get our hands on. We see it that we would rather send some old tat they dont want, than end up missing the boat for the feb practicals, because of delays trying to root around for bits and pieces.
Good luck

Thanks for your responses guys - Ali is your oh guaranteed a place on the February practical session? Is there a cut off session you have to have your paper documents in for the practicals (I forgot to ask our agent that - there's just so much to try to remember!). My oh was a labourer up until 2002, so our agent said that we just have to provide evidence from then - he's got copies of time sheets, invoices, payslips etc so we should be ok with them - fingers crossed - I might send him out with the camera to take pics of all the work he's done as well!

Hi
No hes, not guarenteed a place yet, Our agent has said that they need all the paperwork by 30th Nov by the latest to make sure that he gets in, dont know if theres any leeway on that but i am taking NO chances!
I know what you mean about trying to remember everything, and this is only the beginning!!!!!! we've got months of this ahead of us!!!!
trouble is if you're anything like us, we're going on HIS skills, but its down to ME to do all the arranging of everything. So im so sure that im going to miss something.
Still its nice to talk to someone at the same stage as us, as everyone else seems to be so far down the line.

We didn't have an agent so we emailed vetassess to see how far back we needed to go and they said 5 - 8 years so thats all we did and we passed. My hubby was in his trade for 20 years
Good Luck

Thanks Ali - We're in exactly the same position - going over on oh skills (they're not crying out for my job!), but yes, it's me that has to fill in all of the paperwork, but I haven't got a clue what my oh's day to day job involves (well, I know he builds!!!) and he had the nerve to turn around to me when we got all of the paperwork through and say "huh, it's all for me to do, you haven't got anything to do" - i've spent hours/days trying to find things out, getting all of our documents copied and certified and i've got nothing to do - and guess who will be filling all the forms in so that he has to sign them!!! Hope you manage to get in for the Feb practical, as we're just starting out with the evidence, it'll hopefully be the one after that (is it April?!) - good luck.
MarknTracey - thanks for this, and congrats on passing the practical, you must be buzzing.
Good luck

dont know if this is any help ali but....the firm i served my time with doesnt exist anymore so what i done for TRA ( we applied pre sept 07 ) was do my own declaration of my apprentiship from start to finish, then i had to go and swear an oath in front of a solicitor! maybe you might not need this but i just wanted to give myself as much chance as poss of getting in, no doubt your agent has explained that you need detailed "statements" and not ordinary references, ive been setting brick for 25 years now and worked for countless firms as ive been self employed since 89 so i got last 7 years bank statements to see who and when i had worked for, which was fun! anyway good luck ali
